Deadlines are very important when dealing with customers, it is almost a common habit for Nigerian small entrepreneurs to fail on delivering on deadlines, and these failed deadlines is the reason why those small entrepreneurs are unable to grow their businesses. I personally do not like to do business with someone who does not know how to keep up with appointments, the failure to keep up with appointments is a sure reason why businesses continue to fail on a regular note.
The most annoying part of this regular disappointment is the fact that it is already seen as a norm, so those who are used to disappointments do not even find a fault in it. Let me tell you a quick story to back up my point, a friend of mind was getting married about two years ago and I bought the cloth for the wedding which I gave to a tailor to fix for me, but due to some financial crises I was unable to meet up for the wedding and I had to tell the already late tailor to take her time while fixing the cloth but it seem the tailor interpreted the phrase ‘’Take your time to fix it’’ to mean hold on to the cloth forever.
My friend now has a child who is about two months old but I have never worn the dress made for the wedding ceremony because the cloth is still with the dress maker up till date, although she has delivered other dresses but she failed to deliver on this particular dress and even if she is good with what she does, I am almost giving up on giving her my cloth to sow any longer.
Some of us are very concerned about adequate delivery irrespective of how good or affordable the entrepreneur is, I am writing this post for new entrepreneurs who might be reading this, try to do something different especially in the area of punctuality and delivery, it will make people respect you and help you build your business brand the more.
