Nigeria has many problems. I will only mention few of it.
- Corruption
- The unemployme
- Education
- The environment
- Crime and Terrirism
- Road accident
- Gender-based discrimination
- The Economy
I would have love my wand to solve my problem but since I can only solve one problem with the magic wand, I will like to use the magic wand to solve the problem of corruption.
Nigeria's biggest problem is corruption. Corruption is the source of many Nigeria's problem. Corruption could dress itself in many forms and penetrate all political institutions and economic sectors. It is bad to hear that the government, which is established to build the country and battle any form of corruption, is now stealing from her own people. The government officials who are constituted to put an end to corruption are careless about what is expected of them. The common citizens who are also expected to be free from corruption are also found guilty.
Corruption and Gender Discrimination
Corruption does not only exist in government, it is also in society. For instance, what happens in some organizations with male CEOs when a female applies for a job? Unless they already know them, some of the CEOs demand sometimes they do not even hire them in the end.
Corruption in Elections
Election-rigging is not no longer a news in Nigeria. The citizens of Nigeria are sick and tired of coming out to exercise their duties by voting on Election Day only for feel their votes haven't been counted. During the elections, Nigerians and international monitoring group tell stories of hoodlums employed by candidates to hijack the ballot boxes and frightening voters. A lot of these hoodlums are disaffected and unemployed youth.
Journalism and Corruption
The press is crippled in its efforts to report corruption and election manipulation. Some have been bribed by the governments they report on, this led to weak news and must be put to an end.
Conclusion
If we are able to end corruption in every sectors in Nigeria and we are to solve completely, then Nigeria would be a better place.
The day Nigeria wake up from her sleep, Africa will never be the same
