Do you have self inflicting thoughts like:
No one cares about me, I can't make it, I'm a failure etc
Or the 'if only' thoughts:
if only I was born in that family, if only I was a boy, if only I had enough money I would be happy.
Or the 'what if :
what if it didn't work for me, what if nobody likes me, what if I'm not chosen? etc.
These thoughts bring emotion feeling like depression, self pity, low self, insecurity, hatred, bitterness etc.
Mark 7:21-22 KJV says,
For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
[22] Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
Note
"Every sin begins as a thought in the mind".
"We can either say yes to a thought or no".
"Every action we take comes as a thought first to give us opportunity to make the right decisions".
"We don't have to entertain every thoughts that comes to our minds".
"The devil wants to gain control over our thoughts by speaking lies to our mind".
"The devil brings thought to contradict God 's word*.
"You have a choice to accept or not accept the thoughts that comes to your mind".
2 Corinthians 2:11 KJV
Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
Devil comes to deceive through our thoughts. We must be alert whenever he come.
Matthew 12:34 KJV says
O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
We tend to speak our thoughts out and the bible says in Proverbs 18:21 KJV
Death and life are in the power of the tongue...
We need to discern the voice of the devil.
Question: How can we discern the voice of the devil?
Philippians 4:8 KJV
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Any thought or word that does not align with philippians 4:8 is from the devil.
You decide the kind of thoughts to allow in your mind.
You consciously choose your thoughts.
Ephesians 4:17-23 NLT
With the Lord's authority I say this: Live no longer as the Gentiles do, for they are hopelessly confused.
[18] Their minds are full of darkness; they wander far from the life God gives because they have closed their minds and hardened their hearts against him.
[19] They have no sense of shame. They live for lustful pleasure and eagerly practice every kind of impurity.
[20] But that isn't what you learned about Christ.
[21] Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him,
[22] throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception.
[23] Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.
The difference between the believers and unbelievers is that the believers knows the truth of God's word.
*Refusing to have unrighteous thoughts is part of resisting the devil*.
James 4:7 KJV says:
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
You resist the devil by opposing with firm determination his word, using God's word.
2 Corinthians 10:4 - 5 NKJV
4, For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,
5, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
The devil tempts at the greatest point of your weakness
James 1:14-15 NLT
Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away.
[15] These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.
"Temptation comes from the thoughts we allow".
1 Corinthians 2:16 KJV
For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
Rather than beat yourself up over having impure thoughts, declare the devil should get out of your head and that you have the mind of Christ..
