How many seasons are in your country? Which one is your favourite and why?

My country is located in the tropical area of West Africa, characterized by the savannah that entails that agricultural activities may need little or no push to be successful.

There are two major seasons in my country that define the pattern of seasons in my country. These seasons include:

1. Rainy Season
2. Dry Season

The rainy season periodically happens between the march to September months of the year while the dry seasons occur between the October and February calendar months of the year.

The continued climate change that has befallen the country has jn its ways change the adherence of these seasons without overlaping into each other. We see sometimes where rains still happen in November and dry seaon just having a few months of existence.

My best month is the rainy season that entails we have cold weather for the reason hoursnof the day, especially at night. Only those without power supply at night would have the same choice with me because of the difficulty of having a peaceful sleep.

If there was one season you wanted to skip forever, which one would it be? Explain the reason.

I would want to skip the DRY SEASON. I wish we dont evennhave any thing to do with the dry season. Surviving here during dry season is a lot harder of a life. It comes with a lot of discomfort during this period.

This is a time we have the high cases of meningitis, especially in the nothern side of the country where we have temperature as high as 45ºC. This is a yearly concern, and the government isn't helping in reducing the difficulty associated with this period with the supply of power.

Before the occurence of the little rains now, sleeping at night has been a bit of hell. It is difficult to sleep at night because there is little or no power supply, which makes the night a nightmare.

During the day, the sunny weather with high intensity most times causes burns to us. Most of the skin burns and eye problems may not be unconnected with this harsh environment.

Describe a traditional or special activity that people in your country do during a particular season.

During the Rainy Season, and especially when rainny Season is almost at its end in August, we have the NEW YAM festival. This is a widely celebrated festival in the eastern part of the country to traditionally give a go-ahead order in the consumption of new yam. This is like the traditional harvest and thanksgiving festival just like we have in the christain.

During dry seasons, we have a lot of festivals, programs, and projects that are done during it. We have the dispaly of masqurades in preparation of the yuletide seasons and even during thr yuletide season.

Are there any foods or drinks that people in your country enjoy most during certain seasons? If so, what is it and why?

As i mentioned above, the consumption of new yam starts from august immediately after the Yam festival. The yam is preapred in different forms to commensurate with this festival display.

We have the consumption of maize and pear during the rainy season. The corn and pear are either preared by boiling them to cook or by roasting them.

We have the mango fruit, oranges, and star fruit that does well during the dry seson as well. They are consumed in their large quantities during the dry season.
