Hello, Steemians! Hope we are all good.
Please, learn with me as I write on this topic "Save water save world"

For scientists, water is a good solvent since it dissolves a good number of compounds.

I was taught in Primary School that "Water is any colourless, odourless and tasteless liquid that we drink and that it is a renewable resource". It is normally said that " water is life" and sincerely I agree to this. We need water for our daily living which justifies the fact that water is life.

Have you experienced the change in our climate recently? The sunny season is one when water is needed most because of the intensity of the Sun's heat. Personally, I drink water a whole lot and if I must say, I love the feeling I get whenever I do so.

How important is drinking water for our body?

Drinking water helps in keeping checks on our well-being. Our body is made up mostly of water and needs a liquid medium to function well. When staying healthy is our goal, water should always be considered as a very important component aside others.

Drinking water is important for our body as they perform functions like;

  • Maintaining body temperature: when our body temperature does not seem normal and good for the systems of the body to carry out their functions, water helps in regulating the body temperature to enhance the proper function of the systems found in the body.
    This is why when we are exposed to extremely hot weather, our body yearns for water(thirst) since its temperature has being altered.
  • Keeping the body hydrated: staying hydrated means having enough water in our body. The body is made up of different systems and these systems all need water to perform their functions effectively and efficiently. Staying hydrated by drinking enough water makes the proper functioning of our body systems possible by providing the systems with the vital fluid it needs to maintain balance and vitality.
  • Enhancing weight management: gaining weight is easier than loosing it. We gain weight from taking in food substances that are high in calories. When water is taken in before having meals, we tend to have smaller portions of the meals because we feel full in a short time and this helps in reducing the amount of calories we take in per meal. Being tok weighty comes with some health challenges.
  • Enhancing our mood: personally, when I drink water I feel better and my mood is helped. When I feel thirsty, I am either feeling uncomfortable or worked up and it is only when I drink water that I get to feel better.
  • Improving digestion: food is taken in solid and liquid forms. The body cannot take out the nutrients in the food eaten except when these food substances are broken down and the only fluid that aids this process is water.
    Drinking enough water provides the fluid needed for metabolism, abstraction of nutrients and the transportation of those nutrients to different body parts to enhance growth and stability.
    It also helps in preventing constipation which occurs as a result of a shortage in the medium needed for metabolism to occur.
    -Keeping the skin radiant: from my observation, each time I drink enough water , I rarely have acne breakouts or dark spots . Also, dermatologists have validated the fact that drinking enough water helps keep the skin radiant.
  • Flushing out harmful substances: water helps in dissolving harmful substances that we take in alongside food or medicines. After dissolving them, they are converted to urine or sweat and passed out of the body in liquid form.
Express your knowledge about the contribution of water to nature

Water contributes to nature in a lot of ways. Here are some of them.

  • Water bodies provide cool breeze at night for land through the sea breeze and land breeze mechanisms.
  • Plants and animals need water to live and grow. They in turn serve as food for man.
  • When the sun heats on water bodies, plants and animals, fluids are taken off from their surfaces into the atmosphere when condensation o curs and rain is formed which is a natural phenomenon.
  • We wake up to plants having a liquid substance(water) on them which is known to be dew and this help keep plants hydrated thereby helping their growth.
  • Water provides a place of habitation for water organisms.
  • Water aids the process of photosynthesis in plants.
  • Water can be used for transportation thereby creating a different route for transportation.
  • Water helps in generating electricity when the implement needed are available and use rightly.
What should we do when we run out of drinking water?

With the water cycle in place, the availability of water is not that difficult. The difficult thing is finding portable water that can be used for drinking.
When we run out of drinking water, we could get back drinking water by;

  • Buying treated water in bags of sachet of packs of bottle.
  • Getting water from the rain, boiling it, filtering and adding water treatment chemicals.
  • Fetching water from pipe borne water taps. Sometimes this water may not be treated. It is advisable to boil, filter and add water treatment chemicals to it before drinking it.
  • Water can be dug out of the ground directly. This water will definitely be contaminated and so needs to go through the purifying process.
  • Water can also be gotten from oceans, streams, springs and waterfalls that are clear. The water should also undergo the purification process.
What are some other practical ways to conserve water in our daily lives?

We know that water is a renewable resource but it is expedient that we conserve it to avoid it's extinction or scarcity.
We can conserve water in our daily lives by;

  • Reducing the amount of water we use in having our baths.
  • Making sure we do not keep taps on for water to run when not in use.
  • Mending all forms of leakages in our reservoirs or taps.
  • Watering plants using rain water or water we have used to wash items used for cooking.
  • Not washing clothes using extreme soapy detergents.
  • Making sure that the drainage systems are always free and not clogged by non-degradable substances to avoid flooding.
  • Ensuring that water bodies are not polluted with human waste or paper waste.
  • Providing different medium of awareness to create an image that depicts the need for conserving water so we can have enough to use for our daily activities.

In conclusion, it is important we conserve water as experiencing it's scarcity comes with a different level of stress.
