Assalamualaikum Everyone. I am @imranhassan
From #Bangladesh

How are you all? I hope you are well, by the grace of God. I am also well today. Today I am here to share with you @mahadisalim, sir, conducted by SLC21/WK3: Introduction to Basic Electrical Motors, Switchgear, and Motor Starters. Thanks, @mahadisalim, sir, for organising such a nice contest. And in today's competition, I have calculated the current of a 5 HP motor according to the rules of the contest. And I have connected a star delta diagram, AC and DC, with all the differences I have mentioned here. And I thank you again for organising such a nice contest, and I'm going to start my post.

🟩Write two differences between current and voltage.

Current is the rate of flow of electric charge. The rate at which electric charge is effected through a conductor or current is called current. And the unit of current is ampere.

Voltage is the pressure or force of electricity. The pressure or force required to displace electric charges in a conductor or current is called voltage.

🟩Write two differences between AC electricity and DC electricity.

AC electricity is alternating current, which means that the current changes a lot. AC current moves in the form of cycles, once positive and once negative. And we know this cycle as HZ; the currents in Bangladesh or Asia are 50 HZ. If I explain a little about 50Hz, it means 50 times per second, the negative AC current becomes positive. That is, if we light an AC 100 power lamp, then that lamp will turn on and off 50 times in a second. But we cannot see this HZ of AC current with normal eyes.

DC Current This DC current is direct current; there is no frequency in this current and it moves the estate very nicely. And when any device is operated with DC current, it does not turn off and on; it always runs in parallel.

🟩Write the difference between an AC motor and a DC motor.

AC power is supplied inside the AC motor, which means alternating power is applied to the frequency phase store of the AC power to rotate the motor. There is no coil in the rotor of an AC motor. And the motor is wrapped around the copper coil. When AC supply is applied in phase to the motor, the magnetic field of alternating current is created and helps the motor to rotate.

DC motors use permanent, powerful stationary magnets with a wire-wound rotor called the armature. That is, the DC rotor is wound on the coil, and this rotor is called the armature. If the wire is longer, more current flows through the armature, which creates a stronger magnetic field. The stronger the magnetic field, the greater the rotor current, which helps the motor rotate more. And the DC motor, being a self-starter motor, does not need a separate starter to start it. A DC motor can start by itself as soon as power is applied.

🟩Write two main differences between DOL, Star-Delta and forward reverse starter.

Electric AC current motors that are of low load are switched on and off with a doll starter circuit, such as motors below 5 horsepower. And low-horsepower motors do not need to use any type of star delta magnetic circuit. Because low-horsepower motors only start by chance.

A star-delta circuit is used to turn on and off electric AC motors that are under heavy load. And the working of star delta magnetic circuits is to turn on the motor in two ways: first, turn on slowly, and after five to seven seconds, the motor is turned on at full power.

🟩Write the names and pictures of the electrical switchgear used in your home.

We always use 220 volts of current in our house. Current comes to our mains meter from the electric mains pole. By switching the current from the meter through an electrical circuit breaker, we connect it to the switchboard of our house. The reason for making a small switchboard in front of our house is because the circuit breaker will save us from major problems in case of any electrical problem or short-circuit. And from there we line our home fan and light, TV, fridge, and AC with different types of mechanical things with circuit breaker of single pole or double pole. Then we use another type of switch to control them all the time.

🟩Make the specifications of the motor shown below.
image.pngimage.png

I have collected the number plate from a motor I know here. And that motor was 5.5 HP, and I made the specification according to the number plate of this motor.

KW = 04

HP = 5.5HP

RPM = 2870

Ampere = 8.01-7.33

Voltage = 380-415

Hz = 50

IP = 55

🟩Find out the current of your home's 220 volts, 5 HP motor. (Follow Figure 2.3)

I have figured out all the current voltage amperes for a 5HP AC motor here and have drawn a diagram with my username below.

🟩Draw the power circuit of the star delta starter and name the devices used. (Follow Figure 2.5)

And I benefitted the most here by making the Star Delta connection. I never knew about star delta before, but from this post I got full experience about star delta. And drew a star delta diagram with my username.
