“Ego is the root of the fall”

Ego means the sense of self-hood and the feeling of separation from the rest of the world if we look into the spiritual explanation of ego. However, ego in a very general and broad sense means only to prioritize the self over others. A poem goes like this:
“Ego will trap you inside

Will tell you thousand pretty lies
Might even give you a big fright
But you must see the light”
-by Asad Mehmood

An egoist person gets trapped inside their own little world where s/he thinks that everyone is inferior and because of such thought patterns fails to appreciate the beauty that life has to offer.

In our everyday experience when we mix with various kinds of people we find arrogance easily.

People who are boastful of their achievements or people who demean others are not hard to find. They do not consider what others are going through or what others can do or are doing. An arrogant person is so self-absorbed that they hardly can see that others are also capable or much more capable than him/her. Arrogant people are proud of their every tiny achievement and never let anyone forget about those. They also have a tendency to make other people feel like trash whenever they can get the occasion. They have little to no respect for people or life. They lack both sympathy and empathy. Moreover, they never accept their mistakes.

“Every man who praises himself brushes the luster from his best efforts.” - Ellen G.White
The beauty of every good work done by a person diminishes when they brag about something. Self-praising is something that is hated by everyone. It is not interesting but rather boring and irritating to hear someone eulogizing their own self-worth like they are advertising to sell themselves for no reason. There are a million topics that people can discuss but egoists and arrogant people choose to discuss only themselves. Their bragging shows what a small world they actually have as they cannot think of anything more interesting other than themselves.

As soon as I joined the Steemit platform, I realized what a gem I have found. As a newcomer I found people supporting me without any reason. There are so many things to learn and a myriad of topics to discuss. Everyone behaves as a part of a community and that is what I think civilization is about. Here I have not seen a single person so far acting like a bragging, shouting, egoist prehistoric ape who cannot appreciate others. I am quite happy to find such an accepting and welcoming platform like Steemit.

mine.PNG Properly analyze the root of the fall of ego. mine.PNG

The arrogant people are so busy with their own selves that everything else is meaningless to them. What can be the biggest failure in life other than such a bleak and dreary mindset! They cannot appreciate others and they never try to learn anything from other people. Albert Einstein has said,

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.”

That is quite true for egoists. They soon fall from their grace when they forget to keep the balance in their lives. They forget that civilization cannot move forward with just one person, rather civilization is a collective effort and one who is not part of the collective is an outsider who is not needed. An egoist thus soon loses his/her position in society. They fail to decode one of the basic principles of life which tells us to respect even the tiniest of life forms.
