During Ramadan, one of the most popular and delicious Iftar items is Haleem. It is a traditional dish that is enjoyed by almost everyone. While it's not commonly cooked during other times of the year, in Bangladesh, it's a staple in almost every household during Ramadan. Many people feel their Iftar is incomplete without eating of Haleem. Today I will talk about best Haleem experience in Chittagong at Halim Mama restaurant.

To cater to those who want to enjoy this dish throughout the year, many well-known restaurants made it. Some restaurants and food carts even specialize launch in this recipe. Today, I'll share my experience visiting one of the most delicious and popular Haleem restaurants in Chittagong city, Halim Mama.

First, let's talk a bit about the recipe itself. Haleem is a traditional dish made with a blend of spices, lentils, and meat. It comes in various types, such as Chicken Haleem, Mutton Haleem, and Beef Haleem. The ingredients are essentially the same, with the variation coming from the type of meat used.

Now, let's get to the most delicious Haleem in our city, which can be found at Halim Mama restaurant. "Mama" means "Uncle." As this restaurant focuses on this particular recipe, so it's named "Haleem Mama" Currently, they have branches in one key locations in the city.

Regarding the restaurant's interior, it's simple yet neatly decorated. Though not very large, it's comfortable enough for friends to enjoy their meal and spend a good amount of time together. They also have online food delivery so many city residents to enjoy their special Haleem through services like Foodpanda.

The branch I visited could seat about 20-25 people at a time. However, that doesn't hinder their business. I noticed many customers were buying multiple parcels to take home for their families. They also have a strong positive feedback presence on social media platforms like Facebook. Here's is the Halim Mama Facebook page link : https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100091327689815

It is currently located on Mehedibag Road, near the Shilpakala Academy in Chittagong. Their regular operating hours are from 3:30 PM to 11:30 PM, seven days a week. However, due to ramadan their hours have been adjusted. During Ramadan daytime they only offer parcel and online delivery services.

Here are their operating hours:

Normally3:30 PM to 11:30 PM
In RamadanAfter Iftar to 11:30 PM

Now, let's talk about their menu. Since this restaurant specializes in a specific recipe, most of their items are variations of Haleem. However, they also have other dishes. These include three types of Biryani, rice with curry items, and desserts. Below, I've listed some of their popular dishes that customers frequently order.

Let's take a look at the much talked about Haleem that I tried that day. As you can see in the picture above, it's Beef Haleem. My four friends and I each ordered a bowl. Our hot Haleem was served within 10 minutes of ordering. I found their staff to be very friendly and helpful. They provided us with good suggestions when we were ordering.

Haleem can be eaten on its own, but it tastes even better with Luchi. It is similar to Paratha, like a flatbread eaten with tea or curry in South Asia. Luchi is smaller and slightly crispier. A healthy people can easily eat 3-4 of them easily. As I had already had dinner, I tried to eat moderately.

The Haleem was incredibly delicious and unique. Many often cooks Haleem at home during Ramadan and I've eaten it in many other places. But this Haleem was truly the best. The Luchi made it even more enjoyable. Each bowl had a generous amount of meat. Many restaurants skimp on the meat, but they've built their reputation by providing enough meat while maintaining excellent taste. We were also served a salad with chopped cucumbers, mint, lemon, and chili.

Anyone who tries this Haleem will undoubtedly praise it. They've gained popularity on social media platforms like Facebook and have earned the title of one of the city's best Haleem from their customers. Their prices are also very reasonable. Each bowl, with a generous serving, costs 130 taka/1.15$, which is fair. The Luchi we ordered was only 5 taka/0.04$ each.

So, don't wait any longer. Come to Mama Haleem today to enjoy one of the best Haleems in Chittagong. I'm sure that once you taste it, you'll be singing its praises. This delicious dish will give you a unique culinary experience. For your convenience, I've included the map location below.
