Let's try to know the history of this ancient banyan tree of Saitola Mallikpur here.
A banyan tree located 10 km east of Kaliganj town in Jhenaidah district in Bethuli Mauza of Maliat Union is considered to be one of the largest and oldest banyan trees in Asia. This tree is spread over about 11 acres of land, 25 km from Jhenaidah district headquarters. This two-hundred-year-old tree has grown to a huge size by shedding its branches one after another.
The tree was owned by Shailbala Sen, wife of Jotdar Nagen Sen of Rai village, later it became Khas. Once upon a time goats were sacrificed here according to the tithi. Currently, a permanent Kali Puja seat has been installed under the tree.
In 2009 it was handed over to the Forest Department for maintenance. But the reality is, it may still be limited to paper only. Because of the sprawling trunks and foliage of hundreds of years old, this tree now covers more than two acres. A few years back it occupied five acres of land. Due to carelessness and neglect, the tree has lost much of its ancient glory and this sign of nature is decaying day by day. The plant gained international recognition in 1982, when the BBC reported on it. Known as 'The Biggest Banyan Tree, Jhenaidah', this banyan tree brought international fame to the Jhenaidah area. Many domestic and foreign tourists come to see this tree.
This banyan tree of Jhenaidah is an invaluable resource of nature. Effective steps need to be taken in proper maintenance and conservation of this banyan tree, so that it remains a part of our natural heritage for many more years. The government as well as the local people should be aware of this and make a concerted effort to save this huge and ancient banyan tree.

After coming home, Esha prays and goes with her elder brother to an Islamic cultural event where ad artist Roknuzzaman is attending. After the event we all came home then freshened up in bed to sleep and shared a diary game on Steemit. Today is a very good day, I hope everyone likes it.
