Hello everyone I'm @spiderjr and I'll be writing on the love I have for my national flag. I'm from the county Nigeria and as you all know is the Giant of Africa. My country is not just as the Giant of Africa because of its name but it is know as the Giant of Africa because of it's people and resources it has. Located in Africa.

My country is made up of 36 states all together, has varieties of languages in the likes of; Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa also English as the general language.

Is there any history behind the formation of your national flag? If so, what happened?

Modern Nigeria can be dated back to the era when it began to come under British control in 1861 and was made a British colony in 1914. Before Nigeria was called Nigeria and also before we got our independence, Nigeria was know for many names. Examples of those names were; Royal Nigeria Company Territories, Niger Sudan, Central Sudan, and so on.

Nigeria gained independence in 1960 October 1st and became a republic in 1963. After the independence there was a civil war between the federal government and the former Eastern region, Biafra (1967–70), ended in Biafra’s surrender after the death by starvation of perhaps a million Biafrans.

The Nigeria flag has three colours and each of them represent something. The saffron colour in the flag represents strength and courage, the white colour signifies peace and truth, and the Green colour signifies fertility, growth and auspiciousness of the land.

There is also the Coat of Arm the coat of arms of Nigeria consists of a black shield with a wavy white pall, symbolizing the meeting of the Niger and Benue Rivers at Lokoja. The black shield represents Nigeria's fertile soil, while the two supporting horses or chargers on each side represent dignity.

How does your national flag represent your country on the world stage?

This is a very question to answer because anywhere you see a Nigerian flag there is a very high probability that you will see a Nigeria citizen there. So my country is a country of Joy and dignity.

Education in Nigeria

There has been a broad view for education in my country starting from Creche to higher institutions. The first school in Nigeria was a Catholic school so to say which goes by the name Thomas Anglican Primary School established in 1845 in Badagry, Lagos state, while St Thomas Anglican primary school was founded by Rev. Golmer of the church missionary society also in 1845.

Also the first university in my country was established in 1948, the University of Ibadan, UI as it is fondly referred to, is the first University in Nigeria. Until 1962 when it became a full-fledged independent University, it was a College of the University of London in a special relationship scheme.

Dear @spiderjr,,

The flag carries our national identity in front of other countries. It is a sign that other countries or the outside world can know about our country. Although it was independent in 1960, you organized a competition in 1958 to choose your Nigerian national flag because your beloved country was on its way to independence. Out of 3000 arts in the competition you have selected one flag as the national flag of the country which is really glorious. I wish you luck in this competition. Keep the good.
