SEC-S15W1: The Wonder of Science

Science is responsible for many advancement in both engineering and Technology all round the world. It is the skillful application of hypothesis, analysis, experimention and measurement as well as formulation of laws to describe relevant facts in general terms all for the satisfaction of human needs and desires.

The Wonder of Science

Indeed, science plays a major role in the civilization of humans. Civilization is seen as the state or quality of having a highly developed society or culture hence, being civilized means being morally, intellectually, physical and even mentally advanced.

The application of science is for advancement which is the main essence of our civilization as seen in our improved clothings, health care, nutrition, education, housing, society and life in general.

Science has endeavoured to leave it's mark in every aspect of human existence and is constantly advancing and thriving to predict and meet human needs in the future even.

Considering that science, technology and Engineering work hand in hand meaning one can not do without the other. There may be little or completely no improvement in our way and standard of living.

Science is the observation, experimentation and generation of theories while technology deals with the application of these theories for advancement of living on the other hand, engineering is the creation of facilities and structures or machineries that support this advancement in technology.

In summary, without science there's no technology or advancement so we would still be in the stone age or even worst.

If I was asked this question a few years ago, I would have probably chosen to ask Albert Einstein if he regretted being that smart? If it was frustrating having to always explain himself since nobody could really understand him. If it sometimes felt lonely to look down on the people around.

Then later on, I became more curious about Nichola Tesla, I admired his picture thinking ability, an ability to work from memory without necessarily using drawings and this I was extremely curious about.

But the more I earnestly wanted to ask them so many questions in person, the more it dawned on me that I truly only had one question to ask.

Not how, not what but why they thought the way they did?

Electricity: The relevance of electricity to this generation can never be overemphasized. It is almost impossible to survive in this constantly evolving world without a consistent supply of electricity especially for rechargeable appliances like phones, laptops, torchlights and also electric bulbs, fans, blenders etc.

Almost everything is going electrical, to the extent that just some minutes of power out can cause companies to loose millions of dollars.

Antimalarial Drugs: Before the discovery of antimalarial treatments. Several thousands of people died frequently as a result of malaria especially in the African continent. Quinine was the first successful malaria drug produced by scientists before the development of more advanced forms of treatments. This can be seen as science in the field of medicine saving lifes. There are many other applications of science in this field all easing pain and saving lives.

Food Production: To carter for the massively growing population, scientists has invented developed seeds, facilities and machineries, advanced methods of farming, predicted the seasons best for growing and so many other experimentations and inventions all aiming at improving crop produce. This is science in Agriculture.
