in hive-170554 •  8 months ago

Hey friends!
Countries of the world are ably represented or known by their times and seasons. To some, they are cool, warm, or hot, whereas others have continued to suffer harshness and devastation to theirs. Let's get to know some of these seasons in my country.

How many seasons in your country? Which one is your favourite and why?

My country has two (2) seasons wi5h an overlaping Harmattan haze season that comes in and out during the dry season. Due to its inconsistency this time and short-lived period of occurence, it may not be declared as a standalone season but rather seen under the dry season. This would be discussed more. However, the seasons in my country include

- Dry Season

A time that is characterised with a no rain period or the existence of very little rains. This is a time we find the humidity within my country to be dry and temperature very harsh due to the ever increasing sun intensity. We have more of sun lights during this time because of the no interference with the rainfall.

Sleeping during this period at night becomes more challenging due to the high sunlight of the day, which starts emitting or releasing its heat out after a catch-up of the cold night humidity. Resisdents without power supplies are the most disadvantaged by this discomfort.

However, this dry seaon weather also comes with a twerk, which is the HARMATTAN season. This only occurs during the dry season, where we have the winter-like weather filled with coldness. So many see this as a relief during this unpleasant hotness weather, but it is only short-lived.

- Rainy Season

This is a relief from the all killing hotness from the dry season and as well all farmers farming season. During the hotness that characterized the dry season, people yean for the rainy season to help bring relief to them.

This is usually the beginning of farming season for farmers in the country. The first rains usually give a signal to the farmers to start preparing their lands for cultivation. Itnis indeed a beautiful seasons for mostvasode.the wetty environment it causes and sometimes the flooding when heavy.

If there was one season you wanted to skip forever, which one would it be? Explain the reason.

I will skip the Dry Seasons given the more discomfort it brings to me other than the comfort. I have narrated the too many worries that associated this season, which is the harsh humidity and increased temperatures from sunlights.

From this sode of the continent, we have temperatures as high as 45ºC to 48ºC in some of the states. One could imagine the extreme discomfort this gives us in return. Sleeping at night comes with so much discomfort, and children are seen with rashes all over their bodies. Did I tell you that some also die from meningitis. It is a difficult season to some of us.

Incidences of fire outbreaks are on the increase as more mayerials are dired up from the increase sunlight temperatures and Harmattan, which makes them susceptible to fire.

Describe a traditional or special activity that people in your country do during a particular season.

We have the "IKE JI" which represents the New Yam Festival. The new yam festival is done to commomorate with annual ritual to give thanks after a bountiful harvest. Many south-eastern states participate in this, and this is done in August yearly. It is like ushering out the consumption of new yam into the market.

Are there any special foods or drinks that people in your country enjoy most during certain seasons? If so, what is it and why?

The YAM is one special food that is eaten immediately after the "ike ji" that is done in the rainy season. It is a food that is eaten all year round but offocialy declared open in the month of August.

We have the Oranges, Avocado Pear, Star fruit, and Mango all consumed during the dr season. They are fruits seen between the months of January and April.

Not forgeting is the Maize and Pear" combo. A well consumed fruit and vegetable during the rainy season. We are expecting the consumption of these fruits any time soon.

I really enjoyed reading your post. Your post is very informative. The way you have described the beauty of your country and also informed about the seasons in it. There are different types of weather, dry season and rainy season, but both seasons are very important according to their own characteristics, as you mentioned about an Apna festival. It is a very pleasant sight to enjoy in the season when the rains have subsided.I wish I could be a part of this traditional festival of yours.
@mona01

Exactly, the seasons come with their uniqueness and they impact us no matter there negative sides. Thank you, for commenting

You Wellcome

Dear, your country Nigeria has two seasons. I came to know by reading your post. My country has six seasons. My favorite season is spring. I avoid the monsoon season because of the extreme heat and natural calamities caused by climate change. But I like rain. I got an idea about the seasons of your country after reading your article. Very nicely presented. Good luck to you.

Oh wow, good to know your have 6 seasons. Everyone would want a winter like season just as you've selected. Thanks for the gretlat comments

Ph really? So Bangladesh share the same seasons...interesting. The heat that associated with the dry season is one area I wouldn't want to bear. Thanks for the comment

Thanks wonderful friend for your comment. The seasons indeed play their different roles irrespective of the discomfort it brings. Wet or Rainy season is my prefered due to the relative comfortot it provides.

The seasons of your country bring about different activities, foods, and drinks that are unique to each period. The New Yam Festival, special fruits and vegetables, and the contrasting weather patterns make each season special and memorable. These traditions and customs are an important part of our culture and heritage.

Exactly! Our season define the food type we have those moments. Sometimes our culture and heritage align to this season-food patter.
