The Ink well Newsletter - Breaking news - Hive, Steem and What it all Means

Opinions are opinions Carl, and I do value yours and agree to some extent.

Here is my take. So far as I'm concerned I am looking after my members and their potential to gain rewards for their work. I have been intensely angry and unhappy about how the creative writers of steem have been rewarded for a long time now.

I'm not trying to prop anything up, this is about increasing the value of rewards for my community members (creative writers have been shit on value wise on steem for a long time now) only for as long as it makes any kind of sense to do so.

The moment curie or OCD tell me they're moving to hive exclusively, so will The Ink Well. I don't know if this makes sense and you can see where I'm coming from, but I am not considering myself here... my personal opinion is about to go out in a blog ready to post in about 2 mins.

To summarize I think Justin Sun either is gonna burn steem to the ground (with selling off stake as you said, but even then he has to do it gradually to try and maximize his return), or maybe develop it into a niche community for Asia possibly, or try and run it as a competitor to Hive (very unlikely).

The point is I am simply advising the members of my community to double post while they can make a little bit extra rewards and I ask you honestly what is wrong with that? Seriously?

How do you compare to someone writing in Nigeria for example who writes 4 posts a day in an attempt to lift themselves out of poverty? Is your life like that? Do you have those concerns of having to pay crazy money for an internet connection to earn money from blogging? I don't have those concerns living in the UK. although as a freelance writer I struggle, but nothing like that.

I happen to know one of the members of our community has exactly that level of concerns and output posting to steem. Just to conclude, I am not advocating sticking around on steem for the long term, but neither am I going to get drawn into crazy 'evangelical style' one or the other arguments until it is completely clear that everyone is/has moved.

nor help support the old Steem chain at all once hive launches. Why would anyone want to help add value to a chain centralized under Justin Sun? He has already stated his intention to do a pump and dump with the steemit inc stake. Why would you want to help prop up the value of the old chain until he can dump all over it? Just let him have the old chain.

Hive hasn't even launched yet, we will not know anything until it does. But I agree that adding value to Justin Sun's steem through content is a contentious issue, and like I say if the curation guilds move exclusively to hive, I'm right with them at the drop of a hat mate. Until then I'm advising my members to gain a little extra crytpo.

P.s. my personal plan is to basically post a stock image up on everyone of my 571 posts eventually with a statement about how the steem blockchain was destroyed, who was involved and how they did it. With a small addendum saying if I ever discover anyone plagiarizing my creative writing and have the financial means at that time I will come after them legally.

I get what you're saying though, I think I remember seeing C-squared had announced move to hive only, and I don't disagree. It just isn't in my members best interest until I can assess the changing landscape of what happens over the next week or so. I hope you understand this.

@raj808 commenting from @theinkwell community account as I was working on a post.

Edit: Thanks honestly for the curation by the way. This whole last 2 weeks has us all very passionate, if not emotional, about what Justin Sun Tron and Ned have done to our blockchain. Although I kinda fight my corner in this comment @carlgnash it doesn't mean I don't respect, value and seriously think about the points you're raising.

P.s. this post in response to one of our members clarifies our stance even more and might add a little more clarity as to why I am deciding to assess instead of just leaping in one way with both feet.

Have you seen that steemit.com is already censoring posts about Hive and other posts (including @blocktrades amazingly informative series about blockchain hardforks and DPoS governance)? And that the blacklist of posts that are blocked from appearing on steemit.com is actually piping in a list from an external source in China so they don't even have to update the source code on GITHUB to censor more posts? So much for a censorship resistant blockchain, which is one of if not THE selling point for a writer publishing to the Steem blockchain. I get where you are coming from, but to be honest, I have to say I think you and anyone who is going to continue to be active on steemit.com / old Steem blockchain is doing a disservice to everything that the Steem community has stood for. I surely hope you, @ocd, and @curie reconsider any activities on the old chain. Take a stand for something which is worth taking a stand for. Don't be a tool for censorship.

Don't expatriate to the Hive, but stick with Steemit?
"for those people who are here to write only and aren't interested, or even aware of steem governance issues" - who dodge the techy-y, political stuff - thank God for Carl and Raj
and all the gifted Left-AND-Right brainers who wade into it on our behalf!
I'm overwhelmed and at the mercy of statistics and whatever other people observe, discern, and report. Thank you, tech-savvy and involved members of the community, for keeping us informed.
