The photo that I display is the Aceh Traditional House which is located in the Pirak Mosque Village, Matangkuli District, North Aceh Regency, which is the legacy of our hero, Cut Mutia. This house is one of the historical sites that has Traditional Architectural Elements that are all around us. I deliberately came this afternoon to see firsthand and learn what are the elements of the architecture.
The architecture of Aceh's rumoh has the characteristics of ancient architecture where the floor plan of Aceh's rumoh is rectangular, in the form of a house on stilts and a high roof. The stairs of the house are placed in the north, the number of steps is always odd.
Vertically acehnese house consists of three parts, namely the legs, body and feet head. The foot is a part of the underside of the Acehnese house which is made of lifting the floor of the Aceh house as high as ± 2.8 m to ± 3 m. this column generally functions as a public space. The Aceh House of Representatives is a the interior of the rumoh aceh itself which consists of several
room. While the head is a saddle-shaped roof and the roof is made of arranged thatch leaves.
Acehnese House has spaces and forms that have different meanings and meanings. I tried to explain a little according to the knowledge that I had learned when I was studying in Architectural Engineering.
(1) The building is stretched from east to west. This is to facilitate orientation in prayer and to follow the direction of the wind.
(2) The layout is divided into 3 spaces, namely seuramoe keu (front), seuramoe likot (back) and tungai room (middle).
(3) The height of the door is low, so that those who enter the house can look down as a form of respect for the owner of the house.
(4) There is a red and white cloth on the main pole. The names in the Acehnese language are Tameh Raja and Tameh Putroe. It means brave aceh people for red and holy for white.
(5) There is tulak angen as the direction of air circulation and has a typical Acehnese architectural motif.
(6) There are various carvings and motifs on every waist of the building, windows and other places. Carving motifs have their own meanings such as leaf carving which means the variety of fauna in Aceh and also our love for the environment and efforts to maintain sustainability.
These are some of the forms that we often see in traditional Acehnese houses, of course there are many others both inside and outside the building.
