What is Plagiarism?

Definition :-

The definition of Plagiarism is that when you copy someone else's content without giving them credit and without their permission is called Plagiarism.

Explanation:

Now lets dive into more details on Plagiarism so lets suppose someone who works day and night to create original content it can be any type of content like graphic designing , artwork , animations , songs etc but then some random person on the internet decides to use the material of their work in his own content without their permission this is called Plagiarism .
A legit way to use their content would be having their permission for using their content and giving them proper credits.

Example :

Lets imagine a content creator who creates content for his youtube video putting alot of efforts into his content . Going to shoot the video then writing a script editing it for hours that tons of work for a single youtube video and then uploads it on youtube but some random person on the internet downloads the video without his permission and use it in his own content then the person who put day and night efforts on the video will feel really bad because his hours of work was stolen in minutes without his permission .
From the above example we can learn that if we use another persons content we must take their permission first and after their permission we should give them proper credits.

Type of Plagiarism: -

There are many types of Plagiarism but i have mentioned the 8 most common types of Plagiarism below

  1. Complete Plagiarism.

  2. Source Base Plagiarism.

  3. Self Plagiarism.

  4. Paraphrase Plagiarism.

  5. Mosaic Plagiarism.

  6. Accidental Plagiarism.

  7. Direct Plagiarism.

  8. Inaccurate Authorship.

Now ill explain all the above types of Plagiarism in my own worlds ill try to make it simple and easy for it to be understood .

1) Complete Plagiarism:

When you copy the content of someone else and post it as you made the content then this type of plagiarism is called
complete plagiarism .

2) Source Base Plagiarism:

Source Base Plagiarism is the plagiarism in which you post someone elses content and give its reference but the reference is wrong .

3) Self Plagiarism:

Suppose you write you own daily diary but you post it in two or more communities then this will be knows as self plagiarism because you reuse your own content .

4) Paraphrase Plagiarism:

By this type of plagiarism you use ones content and do some changes in it so it looks yours . This type of plagiarism is called paraphrase plagiarism.

5) Mosaic Plagiarism:

In this type of plagiarism you mix someone else's content with yours like use his content in yours is called Mosaic plagiarism .

6) Accidental Plagiarism:

Accidental Plagiarism means that you are writing your own content but you accidently use some paragraphs that were already used in other's content

7) Direct Plagiarism:

In this type of plagiarism the person who steals the content just copy pastes the content of other people and do no changes in it

8) Inaccurate Authorship:

In this type of plagiarism you mislead authorship of your content .

My suggestion for avoiding plagiarism:

  1. There are many online tools to check articles and other content for plagiarism . These tools can be used to identify plagiarism in ones content .

  2. You should always give a source to the image you use lets suppose you use an image from stock photos then you must give the source to that stock photo

  3. Its not really hard to come up with your own content because our brain is the most powerful organ and it can give you a thousand ideas but you just need to try.

These were some of my suggestions for avoiding plagiarism.

What is Citations?

Citations are the reference of the source it basically means the source from where you take the image or different content so citations is the reference to the content.

Example :

Lets take an example of a article about exercise .

"We know daily exercise is good for optimizing health. But with so many options and limitless information available, it’s easy to get overwhelmed with what works. But not to worry. We’ve got your back (and body)!"source
