Hello everyone,
After completing my Achievement 2 successfully I’m going to talk about content etiquette today. I will explain about plagiarism in this post now.
Plagiarism is simply known as copying and pasting of one’s ideas and thoughts without proper citations. We search something we have used to browse the internet and find detailed information from different websites. If we copy and paste something written by another person it is known as plagiarism.
Different types of plagiarism.
01) Self Plagiarism
Self-plagiarism is the use of same author’s content copied to generate a new content.
02) Direct Plagiarism
Direct plagiarism is the considered as directly copying and pasting one’s content by another.
03) Accidental Plagiarism
Accidental plagiarism happens when someone uses words or phrases which as same as in a previously published article by any other unknowingly.
04) Mosaic Plagiarism
Mosaic plagiarism is when someone forgets to add the citations or sources to his/her publication when taken from one’s articles.
What should we do?
We have to use our own ideas when we write something. If we really need to obtain something from a different source we have to use the citations in order to mention the real ownership. There is an advantage of citations as the readers can browse more details if they wish and also it shows the writers ’transparency. You can include citations for sentences, images or links.
- Example of a citation.
A "citation" is the way you tell your readers that certain material in your work came from another source. It also gives your readers the information necessary to find that source again. Original Source
What can we do to avoid Plagiarism
- When you want write something you can use your own drawings or sketches but if really needed you can use images with proper citations
- We need to take time when creating post. When we think deeply we get many ideas. Some times to create a best post it will take a whole day.
This all about content etiquette up to my knowledge. Thank you @cryptokannon for helping and guiding me in this Achievement program. Thank you for reading.
Kindly add an example of a citation.
