PLAGIARISM:

Plagiarism is the act of copying another person’s work and then presenting it as your own.

Plagiarism is presenting someone else’s work or ideas as your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement. All published and unpublished material, whether in manuscript, printed or electronic form, is covered under this definition. Plagiarism may be intentional or reckless, or unintentional.

Types of PLAGIARISM

1. Direct Plagiarism:
   This is the act of copying someone else content word for word.
   The only changes is that the author name gets changed to the person plagiarizing the content.

2. Self Plagiarism:
   This is case whereby an author reuse his/her previous works and then publish it as a new work.

3. Collaboration Plagiarism:
   This is case whereby a group of people come together to research on a topic but each presents it as their work. This is common among universities students.

4. Accidental Plagiarism:
   This is a case whereby an author forgets to reference an article or fails to include the source of his/her work.

5. Source Based Plagiarism:
   This is an act including a source that does not exist or including a source differently from the content. For example, writing about technologies but including a source relating to Sports.

Tips on Avoiding Plagiarism

1. Always reference post that are not original

2. Never forget to site sources

3. Be Original (creative)

4. Know the types of plagiarism

5. Cross check your work

6. Use of Plagiarism checker.
