INTRODUCTION

hi guys, welcome back, this is my Achievement 3 post, I've completed my achievement 1 and Achievement 2 respectively. And I hope you learn from my Achievement 3 post too, I'll be talking about plagiarism.

WHAT IS PLAGIARISM?

Plagiarism is when you copy a work that's from another person without citing or giving the person acknowledgement. Some call it dubbing, some call it piracy. But the moment you put forth someone else's work as your own without acknowledging them, then that's plagiarism.

According to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary, to "plagiarize" means:
to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own.
to use (another's production) without crediting the source.
to commit literary theft.
To present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source
In other words, plagiarism is an act of fraud. It involves both stealing someone else's work and lying about it afterward.

TYPES OF PLAGARISM: plagiarism hoaoen in the different format and different situations, so we'll do a quick run down on the types
1.) COMPLETE PLAGARISM;
In this type of PLAGARISM, all contents of the article are copied word for word,sentence by sentence.There is no change in the content of the post, it is more like a copy and paste but the here the name of the the original is replaced by the person who plagiarised it.

2.) SELF PLAGARISM:
Self plagarism happens when an author repost or republishes his own content and tags it as a new one.

3.)SOURCE BASED PLAGARISM:
In this situation,the wrong source of content is used.For example,if you make a post about sports and then put a website that talks about crypto currency as the source, you can see it has no correspondence with the article,then it is source based plagarism as the wrong source of information was placed.

4.) ACCIDENTAL PLAGARISM:
Most times plagarism is done on intent but in a case where an author forgets to acknowledge the original author of the post of an article or forgets to input the source it is known as accidental plagarism.

5.) PARAPHRASING PLAGARISM;
This is the most common type of plagarism . Paraphrasing plagarism is the type of plagarism that involves changing and twisting the words of the original post and then putting the work foward as your own.

Now you can fully stop plagiarism but there are certain measures you can take to counter it and reduce it, and these are by :

1.) always acknowledge the original author of a post, either by citing it's source or adding a reference.

2.) Make original posts, be unique, be different, stand out and use your own ideas .

3.) Use a plagiarism checker.

CONCLUSION
Plagarism is a forbidden act in the steemit community and it is best if you avoid it,as it can lead to certain consequences like blacklisting and banning .It is best to create original post where you can show your originality and learn even from the corrections of the steemit community.

Be creative, be unique , stand out with your own ideas and you won't have a problem of plagiarism.
