Achievement 3.jpg

Objectives of this Task is:

• Newcomers have knowledge on Proof of Brain concept.
• Newcomers have basic knowledge on producing and sharing quality/original content.
• Newcomers embracing the existing Steem Community etiquette.

What is "Proof of Brain Concept"?

Content originality is the core foundation of the steemit operation. When posts and articles published in steemit are curated directly from the author without copying someone's else's work. This is referred to as proof of brain.

So the Steem blockchain rewards it's content creators with a fast and fee-less digital token (called STEEM) which enables people to earn the currency by using their brain (what can be called “Proof-of-Brain”) Source

What is Plagiarism?

Plagiarism means intellectual property theft. It talks about using or citing someone's work without proper credit to the original owner. In Steemit, plagiarism is regarded as a huge offence cos we strongly emphasise on content originality. "The best way to avoid plagiarism is to understand the concept itself." Source

How to cite a source

I'm going to show us exactly how to cite image and text sources using simple HTML commands.

1 . For images Citation: Add the image then on the next line use this HTML code to include the citation.

[Image Source](link to your image source)

Example:
cube-2031512_640.jpg

2 . You can also make the word "Image Source" centralised with the command below:

<center>[Image Source](link to your image source)</center>

Example:
cube-2031512_640.jpg

The <center> command is only used to make the text "Source" to be centralised. Otherwise it will automatically align left when not used.

3 . You can also use the command to make the text "Image Source" smaller:
[Image Source](link to your image source)

Or this for Centralising the text:
<center> [Image Source](link to your image source) < sub> </center>

Example:
cube-2031512_640.jpg

4 . For text citation:

a . Close the sentence in double quotation thus: " "
b . Use the command below to include the citation
[Source](link to your text source)
c . You can also use either of our <center> and commands if you wish.
Remember for the commands to work, you have to close each command with </center> and respectively.

Example:
"Although online tools are not foolproof, it’s a good idea to run your paper through a plagiarism checker before submitting it." Source

The Steem Community Etiquette

As a part of my task on this achievement, I was encouraged to read this article here The Complete Steemit Etiquette Guide (Revision 2.0) -Homage to get to know the social ethics of existing Steem Community.
I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them.
