PLAGIARISM

Plagiarism is when one without the consent of the original owner or initiator copyies his ideas, thoughts, expressions, text, audio, video or intellectual property ( creative work) , and presents it as if he is the originator, creator or initiator.

Most common types of Plagiarism include:

Direct plagiarism: The word-for-word transcription of a section of someone else’s work, without attribution and without quotation marks." Source

Self-plagiarism occurs when one mixes parts of previous works, without permission from all authors or involved." Source

Mosaic Plagiarism occurs when one borrows phrases from a source without using quotation marks, or finds synonyms for the author’s language while keeping to the same general structure and meaning of the original." Source

Accidental plagiarism occurs when a person neglects to cite their, or misquotes their sources, or unintentionally paraphrases a source by using similar words, groups of words, and/or sentence structure without attribution." Source

"Generally, plagiarism is not in itself a crime, but like counterfeiting fraud can be punished in a Court for prejudices caused by copyright infringement, violation of moral rights or rorts Plagiarism and copyright infringement overlap to a considerable extent, but many types of plagiarism do not constitute copyright infringement." Source

To avoid Plagiarism ensure that you give credit to the work you are copying and cite the source of that work.
