What is plagiarism
Plagiarism means present a work that has been done by someone else as your own without their consent.It also means copying it into your own work.

Here are some examples of plagiarism
Using information from a source without attempting to give credit to the author
Using chats, illustrations, images , figures etc without citing the source.
Using an academic paper purchased or copied from a ghostwriter.

Citing a source,for example a published (book, article or image) when creating a work a written work shows the reader where specific information came from and can locate it.
Below are types of plagiarism
Mosaic or patchwork plagiarism:This is when someone else's work is being paraphrased without citation. This paraphrasing can be done from one or several sources.
Complete plagiarism: This is when someone tries to Submit the entire research paper as their own without proper attribution
Self plagiarism:Happens when u your own work, wether intentionally or not. This type of plagiarism is harmless because you are not stealing from anyone else just your self.
Accident plagiarism: This doesn't happen on purpose,but it is still considered plagiarism when someone copies another's writing without citing their source.
Source or Based plagiarism: This type of plagiarism refers to instances when misleading sources are involved. For example,the writer may may two sources of information but only reference one. This type of plagiarism is when sources are fabricated.
Direct or Verbatim plagiarism:It is also known as copypast plagiarism,it is intentional and unethical way or form of stealing a content. A stolen word for word,the author tries to pass off the content as their own.

ways we can avoid this plagiarism
1.Get to know your source: Making sure you know all your source helps you to write thorough notes from your sources in your own paraphrased words.
2.Quote direct sources correctly: When a sentence or passage needs to be quoted and cannot be paraphrased,a direct quote needs to be used.also make sure you are not using too many direct quotes.
3.Paraphrase properly: Creating an entire new piece of writing base on your own insight s or interpretation of the original information.
4.Citation: This is Paramount in avoiding plagiarism.
5.Use a plagiarism checker: This can help you check plagiarism errors in your paraphrasing.
6.Don't forget your reference page: As you collect sources from your paper or project,cite them properly and build a reference (workcited)
7.Take your Time: When selecting sources, reading and creating a paper or project online, take your time carefully to avoid plagiarism errors.
