Plagiarism

For me plagiarism is like cheating during exams, stealing someone’s answer and putting it in his copy as the answer.

According to the University of Oxford,

Plagiarism is presenting someone else’s work or ideas as your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgment.

There may be many reasons for people to do plagiarism which include: laziness to study before an exam, lack of inspiration, someone can find the idea of another person more attractive thus don’t have self-confidence.

Types of plagiarism

We have many types of plagiarism including.

Complete plagiarism

It is a severe type of plagiarism, an individual (scientist or literature writer) takes a manuscript or an article that somebody else created and submits as his/her own. It is equal to intellectual stealing.

Source-based plagiarism

Plagiarism might occur due to various sources. Like, a scientist references the incorrect origin, it’s a dishonest citation
Direct plagiarism happens once an author copies the text of another author word to word while not using quotes, therefore making it to be his own.

Self-plagiarism

Self-plagiarism equally called auto-plagiarism occurs when an author reuses important parts of his/her last article or work done.

Mosaic plagiarism

Mosaic plagiarism may be more difficult to detect because it interlays someone else’s phrases or text within its own research. It is also known as patchwork plagiarism and it is intentional and dishonest.

Accidental Plagiarism.

This type of plagiarism occurs when the authors copy someone’s work without knowing yet the consequences are identical. However, plagiarism is also accidental if it occurs due to mistakes, or unintentional paraphrasing.

Conclusion

From the steemit etiquette Plagiarism is not really good as it can ruin the career of others who merits their work, we should avoid overposting, publishing illegal stuffs on the platform, buying votes is prohibited, not expecting someone to equally on a post we have commented or voted, to be polite as much as possible by answering the comment done on our post, not posting and running away due to lack of time...
