Hello everyone
I recently completed my achievement and I am now confident enough to post my achievement-3 so here I am. Achievement-3 for all those who don't know addresses plagiarism and how some people are exploiting it for their personal gain. Through this post, I have learned about plagiarism and why it is a very wrong thing to do and would like to bring awareness to the newcomers about plagiarism through the post.

PLAGIARISM

Actually, Plagiarism is widely thought of as copying someone else's work and putting it into use for your personal gain But it is just the surface of the offense you are committing. so what is plagiarism...

"According to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary, to 'plagiarize' means:"

  • to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own
  • to use (another's production) without crediting the source
  • to commit literary theft
  • to present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source

"According to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary, to 'plagiarize' means:" Source

Plagiarism not only applies to text but even to all kinds of videos and photos that you don't have any permission to use.
It is considered a serious offense and there will be actions taken on you to avoid plagiarism.

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM

Considering the pattern, plagiarism can be of different types. They are:

  • Direct Plagiarism
  • Mosaic Plagiarism
  • Accidental plagiarism
  • Self-plagiarism
  • Paraphrasing plagiarism

HOW TO PREVENT PLAGIARISM

  • Plan your content before even start writing with the eligible resources that are available to you here 'eligible' means the content which is copyright free.

  • Give the credit to the source which you referred to for your content through citation in your writing that identifies the full name of the source.

  • Always include quotations around the words and sentences of other people that you are including in your post.

  • Try to use free stock images as these are copyright-free.

  • Use some online plagiarize checkers which will let you know if any part of your content is plagiarized.

Finally, I would like to stress that
"I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them"
