Plagiarism:
Plagiarism is presenting someone else's work or ideas as your own with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement.
Example:
Here are some examples of Plagiarism:
Turning in someone else's work as your own.
Copying large sources of text from a source without citing that source.
Taking passages from multiple sources, piecing them together and turning the work as your own.
Types of Plagiarism:
There are many common types of Plagiarism but I am going to explain six types.
- Direct Plagiarism
- Mosaic Plagiarism
- Accidental Plagiarism
- Self Plagiarism
- Misattribution
- Paraphrasing without credit
Direct Plagiarism:
When you take another person's work and pass it off as your own without changing anything.
Copy text from another documents word to word.
Mosaic Plagiarism:
When you partially paraphrase the content so that your paper is a mix of that your source's words and your own words.
Borrowing an original idea and a few verbatim words from a source without proper citation or credit from to the original author.
Accidental Plagiarism:
When you present information for you source but forget to include citation.
Unintentional Paraphrasing or copying due to neglect.
Self Plagiarism:
When you partially paraphrase the content so that your paper is a mix of your sources words and your own words.
Resubmitting one's own previous work as new without crediting self as the source stealing from the one's own work.
Reuse a major part of your own work without attribution.
Misattribution:
When you attribute information that comes from one source to a different source.
Paraphrasing without credit:
When you change the wording of your sources information without giving due credit.
Make minor changes and use other's writing.
Form of Plagiarism:
• Copying from a source without acknowledging it.
• Using someone else's ideas without referring to the author.
• Improper Paraphrase.

Points to remember while Paraphrasing:
Read and understand the article first.
Make a structured summary of the article.
Rephrase each sentence while Paraphrasing.
The original essence shouldn't be changed.
Proof read to ensure correctness of flow.
Re-check the relevancy of the citation.
