Achievement 3 by @hope10 Task: Content Etiquette

in hive-172186 •  3 years ago  (edited)

Greetings to all members of the steem community, I have completed my achievements 1 and 2 successfully and I'm here to complete another task which is achievement 3.

Introduction

Steemit platform rewards creative people for using their brain, people who create their own contents. These contents may be in the form of Art, Quotes, Photography etc. Content creators are therefore advised to provide a citation or source to contents that consists of works from other people.

PLAGIARISM

Plagiarism is presenting someone else's work or ideas as your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement. Source

Plagiarism is an act of theft which can be punishable, and to prevent this act, we have to cite any content or piece that is been taking from other's work.

CITATION

Citation is a way of giving reference to a source and with the help of citation, one can use another person's work.

The Need for Citation

  1. Steemit platform rewards content creators, plagiarised and copied text or post are not original contents so one must cite them properly.
  2. It helps the public gain clarity and more information to the cited work.
  3. It also gives credit to the publisher/author.

How to Cite a source

  1. Put all copied /pasted sentences in quotes or formatted using the > markup.
  2. Give references to all paraphrased text or sentence.
  3. With photographs, one should add the links to where the image is copied from and cited properly using; [Source](copied link).
To avoid plagiarism, we must all try to cite and give source to our copied works.

Steemit Etiquette

Etiquette is an accepted set of rules that governs a group or society. I want to share some of the ideas I've learnt from the Steemit Etiquette.
Staying consistent, this is a community and as members of the community we are supposed to view and comment on other works instead of posting and leaving, we must stay active but this doesn't allow us to post every minute. We should share only relevant post when necessary and must not steal contents.
I agree that one should not beg for votes but create contents that will earn votes. Be polite and forgiving.
Reading the Steemit Etiquette helped me understand some of the things that are not allowed here and things that are expected of me and I'm happy to have gained this important knowledge.

“I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them".
Thank you.
