I couldn't wait to get home to announce to my only friend that I have been successful in creating a steemit account and am now a member.It has always been his vision that I get something profitable doing during the holidays.

I have received all my keys on steemit.

" where are the keys?" was the first question he asked after I broke the news to him.I made him aware that I have been able to download them and they are in a safe place.

functions of each key

Noticing how eager he was to know much about the keys,I didn't give him the chance to bombard me with another set of questions so, I just used that opportunity and educated him.
I made him aware that , the master key is to derive all keys for one's account.
The posting key allows account to post, comment , vote, edit , resteem , follow or mute other accounts.Users should be logging in to steemit with the posting key . I also spoke to him abouth the active and owner key .
The active key is meant for more sensitive task such as transferring funds, power up or down transactions, converting steem dollars, voting for withnesss and updating profile. It is also used for placing market orders. The master key is the most powerful key because it can change any key of an account, including the owner key.ideally, it is meant to be stored off-line and used only to recover a compromised account.

keeping my master key

I concluded everything on the key aspect by letting him know that I have written down my owner key in my diary and there's no way one can recover one's account if one loses his password or owner key. Because one's account has a real value, it is very important that you save your master password somewhere safe where you will not lose it.

transferring tokens

With regards to how one can transfer steem tokens to another steemit account, I explained to him that one must click on the down arrow next to the number of steem tokens held in the drop-down box . Then one enters the name of the account they wish to make the transfer to, then enter the number of tokens,and a memo if desired. Then click on next .

how to power up and down

Finally, I taught him how to power up steem by explaining to him that,one uses the drop-down box as the transfer next to the steel number, but select power up instead, enter the quality of steem and click power up and he is done
