Plagiarism is simply stealing an author's idea, work, thought or expression and presenting these things as yours as original forms. This can also be done by not giving credit and acknowledgement where due. Here is a definition I got from online which shows how serious it is:

In other words, plagiarism is an act of fraud. It involves both stealing someone else's work and lying about it afterward Source

Is plagiarism illegal?

Plagiarism is not really illegal in the U.S in most situations. ... But plagiarising can still warrant legal action on the grounds of infringement upon the original author's copyright, trademark, or legal rights. This can also lead to a lawsuit once it breaches a contract with terms where only original works are required and accepted.

There are so many types of plagiarism are they range from : Direct Plagiarism, Mosaic Plagiarism, Accidental Plagiarism, Self-Plagiarism and so on

why is plagiarism a big deal?

Not only is plagiarism considered a crime, but it comes with emotional and mental breakdown to the persons whose ideas are robbed. All the hard works, energy and efforts couple with sleepless night to make a work a success now comes out to be presented by someone else as original. Note that we don't know the value of the things we didn't work for, that way we won't appreciate the efforts made to bring such things to succeed.

We're all different and we see things differently, it's believed that the best way to coup plagiarism is self expression or view about something. When we freely express our own view on a particular subject, we're bound to get different results therefore having every individual to a different view and results about a particular work.

Everyone is special and so is the way we see things. Learn to pen down your opinions, if there's need to borrow an idea, be sure to refer the borrowed knowledge to the author, that way readers are able to the original author of such words...

Because the Steemit community understands how detrimental this is, she has always called up steemians to join hands together and coup plagiarism and one way to we can help is to learn about Plagiarism and avoid falling victim, try as much as possible to add sources to pictures and citations to quotes. Why? Because plagiarism kills vision It's causes stagnancy It's causes low self esteem and expression

I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them.
