Not all areas of the Earth are habitable, especially where the temperature is extremely low. According to a research group, this situation could change a lot, but it would require the displacement of another planet.
The Earth and all other known planets in our solar system revolve around the Sun. This hardly needs to be explained, as (hopefully) everyone is aware of it. Less so, perhaps, with the fact that changing these trajectories would have to face very serious consequences - even here on Earth. However, a team of scientists believes that a small modification would not (yet) lead to catastrophic results, on the contrary:
life on earth could be even better.
This consequence could also be triggered by the change/lengthening of Jupiter's orbit. As a result of this shift, Jupiter's orbit would become more eccentric, while the planet itself would move closer to us and to the Earth. As BGR pointed out, this would result in the Earth falling closer to the Sun at certain points, leading to extremely cold, frozen areas would warm into the habitable range.
