Pro Minnow Program. Achievement 2: Safety Fundamentals in STEEM (Achievement 2)
Achievement 2: Security Fundamentals in STEEM

The objectives of this quest:
(*) Learn the basic security principles on steem, how their master passwords work, and be able to distinguish between account posting key, active key, private owner key and memo key.
(*) Understand how to use your Steemit wallet.
How can I keep my Steem account safe?
Save your master password and keep it safe somewhere.
Log into your account using a key with the appropriate permissions for what you are doing:
Posting key for everyday logins
Active key when needed to transfer funds, enhance voice power and so on
Master password or owner key when changing password
Extremely important! Save your master password. Do it in a safe place! If you are logging in with your post key, make sure you did not overwrite or make mistakes when entering the original master password.
It is not recommended to use your password or keys on other third-party sites. Steemit Inc. develops a login application that can be used on third party Steem interfaces.
Why should I be careful with my master password?
The master password is used to retrieve all keys for your account, including the owner key. If someone has access to your master password, they can steal your account and all the tokens (coins) in it.
What are different keys for?
Posting key - The posting key allows accounts to post, comment, edit, vote, save and subscribe and unsubscribe to other blogs / accounts. Most users should log into Vox every day using the posting key.
The more you use it, the more likely your password or key will be compromised, which is why there is a limited posting key to limit the damage that a compromised account key can cause.
Active key - The active key is intended for more sensitive tasks such as transferring funds, increasing voice power and decreasing voice power, converting steam dollars, voting for delegates, updating profile and avatar data, and placing an order on the exchange.
Owner key - The owner key is intended to be used only when needed. This is the most powerful key because it can change any account key, including the owner key. Ideally, it should be kept separate and only used to recover a compromised account.
Memo key - This key is used to encrypt and decrypt reminders when transferring funds. To encrypt a note, use the pound sign or "#" in front of it.
What should I do if I have lost my password / keys?
There is no way to recover your account if you lose your password or owner key! Since your account has real value, it is very important to keep your master password in a safe place where you won't lose it.
It is highly recommended that you keep a separate copy of your password in a safe place in case of hard drive failure or other disaster. This can be digital offline storage, such as an external drive or flash drive, or printed paper. Use a safe for better preservation.
What is the difference between Master Password and Owner Key?
The Master Password is used to generate all other keys, including the Owner Key. The only reason you should really use your master password is for account recovery, in which case you should get the master password from your secure vault.
The Master Password is the password you receive upon registration. Then you have to take this password, go to your Vox Steemit.com, get all the other keys, and only use those keys in the future.
DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE PICTURE OF ANY OF YOUR KEYS IN NO EVENT!
