Hello everyone I bring you greetings in the name of Jesus. The focus of my achievement 3 post is on the concept of plagiarism, it's types, consequences and how it can be avoid as regards to content etiquette.
DEFINITION OF PLAGIARISM
Plagiarism can be defined as presenting someone else's work or idea as your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement. According to Oxford English Dictionary, plagiarism means an act of plagiarizing something. In this definition, to plagiarize means to copy persons ideas,work or words and pretend that they are your own. When it comes to plagiarism, many people tend to think of it as duplicating another person's original idea. Which lightens the seriousness of the offense.
Types of plagiarism
The following are the types of Plagiarism. They are;
COMPLETE PLAGIARISM; as the name implies,this type of plagiarism occurs when someone is presenting entire paperwork as his or her own without proper citation of the originator.
SELF PLAGIARISM;This occurs when a person submits his or her own previous work or a mixture of past assignment without permission from the professor involved.
PATCH PLAGIARISM; This is also called ''Mosaic plagiarism''. It occurs when one borrows phrases from a source without using quotation marks or the person finds synonyms for the author's language but keeps the same general structure and meaning of the content.
ACCIDENTAL PLAGIARISM; Such situation happens when a person neglects to cite their sources,or misquote them. Unintentional paraphrasing or grouping of words that match some other source may also fall under this. Cases of accidental plagiarism are taken seriously as other types of plagiarism.
CONSEQUENCES OF PLAGIARISM
As plagiarism is considered an offense, it's fallouts are not positive for the person.
1). Destroyed reputation of the individual.
2). Destroyed reputation of academic intuition.
3). Failure in the particular assignment.
