Hello Steemians. How happy I must have felt completing my Achievement 2 and being verified. I'm into Achievement 3 hoping to be verified soon. to all the new beasts in this platform I place it as a challenge for you to complete five achievements before 15th of April. One secret behind a quality content is making that content free from plagiarism. Doing this text will help us know how to check plagiarism in our post and how to avoid it.

What is plagiarism?

Piagiarism is not an ambiguous word. it's quite known by many especially in this platform where it is widely used. To a layman, plagiarism means copy and paste. plagiarism is very horrendous on this platform. It is an act or stylish way of framing someone's work and using it as ours. This act is what many considers as shortcuts especially in the writing field. A plagiarised post is one copied from the net and using it in this platform as our work without giving credit or reference to the original author.

Types of plagiarism

  • Complete Plagiarism
    Is the real definition of layman's way of defining Plagiarism. From the word Complete, it means that this is a type of plagiarism where an author copies another author's work or steemit user copies the work of another user completely with almost not changing anything and doesn't give reference or credit to the original author or steemit user he copied from.
  • Accidental Plagiarism
    This is a type of plagiarism where an author accidentally plagiarise his content without knowing it. It can be not sourcing properly or not citing sources. Since it is not intentional, it matches the name of this Plagiarism. Most at times I accidentally create a plagiarised post but with the help of the Plagiarism checker, I can conquer......
  • Direct plagiarism
    This is another serious type of Plagiarism where an author or steemit user copies another user word for word without removing a letter. This Plagiarism and others is not condoned in this platform.

  • Source-based Plagiarism
    is a type of plagiarism where the author provides reference to only the primary data without sourcing the secondary data of which he copies.

How to avoid plagiarism

  • Plagiarism checker: is a useful tool used to check if our content is plagiarised. It spots places that are plagiarised so we can adjust or change it.   • Discipline : How is discipline related to plagiarism? Discipline is a virtue everyone should try to imbibe as writers. We need to be disciplined to make articles of ours without trying to copy one's work. Courteous discipline can be a strategy against Plagiarism.

  • Research Methodology: it's not bad to research and know certain things. We research to know, learn and improve our writing skills. A research quest to study and know more would always make you know better. Try being creative when using this method....
