Achievement 3: Plagiarism:

In a normal case, i won't like anybody to copy and paste my ideas or contents claiming to be rightful owner of the post or without giving me a credit (citing the original source).

It is actually what will call Plagiarism.

What is Plagiarism?

According to the oxford Dictionary

"Plagiarism is presenting someone else's work or ideas as your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement."

Plagiarism to me is the rewriting, copying, and pasting an authors content without giving the author's credit by citing the content.

Plagiarism is not allowed here on steemit. It can make one to lose his or her reputation and also, downvoting of ones post.

Types of Plagiarism

Basically, we have about four different types of plagiarism which are viz;

1. Direct plagiarism:

As the name implies direct, it is actually the process of copying and pasting ones work without editing or changing anything from the original content, not even a dot from the author's content and posting as your own content. This act is very bad and its mot allowed here on steemit.

2. Self Plagiarism:

You will be wondering how you yourself can plagarize your own content. Yes its very possible. This is when you repost a content that you've already posted on steemit. This act is plagiarism. Always post new ideas and not contents you've posted already.

3. Mosaic Plagiarism:

This is the type of plagiarism that has to do with a user copying different lines from different author's content to form his or her own postwithout citing the source.

4. Accidental Plagiarism:

As the name implies Accidental, it has to do with a user posting an idea he or she has formed without knowing that someone else has posted if not the same but very similar content.

I will advice us to use a plagiarism checker to check our contents before posting them.

Penalties for Plagiarism

  • Your reward can be downvoted
  • it can bring down your reputation
  • User can be ban if you continues in such act.

How can one avoid Plagiarism?

  • Paraphrasing/Quotation
  • Citation

Note: always use a plagarism checker to post a plagiarism free post.
