Before I go on with my task, I would love to express my deep appreciations towards this community and how I was wholeheartedly welcomed. Extending my appreciations, @vectorshore, @eberechi10, @tsunamihimself, you're not left out. Special shootouts also to @cyptokannon, @steemcurator01, @steemcurator02, @steemcurator03, for their support towards my growth as a newcomer.

WHAT IS PLAGIARISM

Basically, I'll define plagiarism as an act of copying what's not yours originally. Both content wise and in all sense, it is taking credit for what you didn't write.

EFFECTS OF PLAGIARISM

As a writer, indulging in plagiarism affects your creativity and your ability to make original contents. A writer ought to be creatively flexible, so as to effectively pass out the message or purpose of your writing.
Plagiarism limits a writer.

There's a saying that nothing under the sun is new, but being humans, we have been gifted with the uniqueness to recreate.

False articles, poetry, etc. have been promoted illegally because of the common plagiarism in our society today.

Types of Plagiarism
There are some common types of plagiarism, they are as follows;

Direct Plagiarism
This is type of plagiarism can be referred to as the word to word plagiarism.

Mosaic Plagiarism
This type of plagiarism occurs when someone writes a copy of a phrase without putting quotation marks.

Accidental Plagiarism
This type of plagiarism occurs when a user neglects or accidentally misquotes where they got a phrase from, or probably forgets to cite his/her source

AVOIDING PLAGIARISM

As a writer of any sort, deliberate measures should be heeded to in order to curb the act of plagiarism.

  1. Citations - This basically is an intentional act of giving relevant credit to whomsoever, or wherever you got your work copied from. For example...

When alluding to an idea or wording that’s not your own, add a citation in your writing that identifies the full name of the source, the date it was published, and any other citation element that’s required by the style guide you’re adhering to. Source

The above statement wasn't mine or original, hence my citation.

Some other ways of avoiding plagiarism is by implementing the use of plagiarism checkers and so on.
