It is so pathetic to state that, some people do not know what plagiarism is all about and as a matter of fact and law, plagiarism comes with it own consequences when once a post or a write up is marked for PLAGIARISM. For instance in my country,if a professor in the academic field is found to have plagiarized, he or she will be demoted from his academic rank. Generally speaking,I want to state that, plagiarism is an offence against Intellectual property law. However, all piece of work should always be referenced except for the original authors of that piece of work. This is because,no information is new in the universe. But, with constructive criticism and logical reasoning,a piece of information may become new and open for another criticism.

Plagiarism is the appropriation of another person's work, be it text or image, without any attempt to give them credit. The goal of the plagiarist is to make it appear as if themselves are the source of the work.

Plagiarism is presenting someone else’s work or ideas as your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement. All published and unpublished material, whether in manuscript, printed or electronic form, is covered under this definition. Plagiarism may be intentional or reckless, or unintentional. Under the regulations for examinations, intentional or reckless plagiarism is a disciplinary offence.

The best way of avoiding plagiarism is to learn and employ the principles of good academic practice from the beginning of your university career. Avoiding plagiarism is not simply a matter of making sure your references are all correct, or changing enough words so the examiner will not notice your paraphrase; it is about deploying your academic skills to make your work as good as it can be.

Duplicate or copied content takes away the originality of the writing itself, and therefore the writing fails to reach the reader as well. Therefore, for research papers, academic papers, the writers must be careful with their source material. If the works have even the slightest hint of plagiarism, it is not an original content anymore; instead, it gets considered as a copied content. Therefore for the writers, it is essential to know how to avoid plagiarism; and retain the originality of writing.

According to Wilson Mizner,"If you steal from one author it's plagiarism; if you steal from many it's research."

I believe everyone got the point of plagiarism and how to avoid it. That is all for now. See you in my next achievement post.
