Going through the resource material provided by @cryptokannon, I noticed that the goal or aim of achievement Task three is to encourage originality of content thus avoiding plagiarising by all means. I actually made a mistake in my previous task by not editing some information. I was prompted by one of the greeter helpers and I am glad I went through the resource material concerning plagiarism.

What then is Plagiarism ?

To the best of my knowledge, Plagiarism occurs when you do an assignment by copying another person's work or even your work without acknowledging wherever or whomever you took the information from. It may be intentional or unintentional. And it is punishable by law.

Ignorance of the law is no excuse

FORMS OF PLAGIARISM
  • Verbatim Plagiarism

This is a type of plagiarism that occurs when you copy and paste exactly the words of an author without proper recognition to the author. This is also known as direct plagiarism.

  • Self-plagiarism

This type of plagiarism is committed when you copy and paste the results of a previous assignment done by you the same person without notifying whoever you are submitting it to. Even if those words are your own words, the moment you make a duplicate submission of it, then it's plagiarism.

  • Accidental Plagiarism

This type of plagiarism occurs when the person unintentionally paraphrases or uses a quote from another person without referencing that individual or when you the writer misquote a referenced individual unintentionally. It also occurs when the person forgets to reference the source of the information.

  • Patched/ Mosaic Plagiarism
The person picks different ideas from different areas and combines them as one piece of work without necessarily referencing the original authors or owners of the individual pieces.

One of the most difficult plagiarism to identify is Patchment Plagiarism

EFFECTS OF PLAGIARISM
  • You lose your respect and it is also showing that you lack creativity as a person and a writer
  • It can actually cause your work to be rejected and you are likely to lose your position
  • Plagiarism is considered an illegal act punishable by law
  • Plagiarising denies the author of the original work recognition
WHAT TO DO TO AVOID PLAGIARISM
  • Pass your work through a Plagiarism Checker before submission. You might know who has publicized your idea.

There is nothing new under the sun.

  • Paraphrasing the information you find. And when paraphrasing, make sure to go straight to the point and add more of your ideas and words.

  • Reference every information you obtain that is neither general knowledge nor yours. Even if it is your, make sure to reference it.

  • Finally, try as much as you can to be creative in your writing and thinking to augment the whole idea of PoB (Proof Of Brain).

I have read and understood the steemit Etiquette on steemit community and will do my best to follow them.

Thank you.
