Bringing greeting to all my fellow steemiers across the globe. I'm glad to reach this level in this platform where I could be able to write my achievement 3 and present it for verification. My achievement 3 is in the term plagiarism.

Plagiarism

The term plagiarism as defined by the Oxford languages is the practice of taking someone else's work or idea and passing them off as one's own. Plagiarism is similar to copying. In a nut shell, plagiarism can simply be put thus; copying another person's content or text with acknowledging the person.
Plagiarism is a serious offence that attract punishment. In steemit, plagiarism can attract rustication. So it is a crime that one must avoid at all cost.

Types of plagiarism

Plagiarism can come in different forms, that take us to types of plagiarism. The types of plagiarism are discussed below

Global plagiarism;

This is the act of copying someone's idea or work entirely without notifying the owner. For example, you saw someone's content then you copy everything from it and paste as your own.

Paraphrasing plagiarism;

This is the act of rephrasing Someone's idea to be as you want. This happens when some people go to people's work get the idea, and rewrite it in their own words.

Verbatim plagiarism;

This one can simply be put as copying the writer's words directly without changing those words. It can also be called direct plagiarism.

Patchwork plagiarism;

This is the collection of ideas from different sources and mere it as one without acknowledging the owners.

Self - plagiarism;

This one is simply copying your own work. It is the reuse of ideas or works or phrases that you have published before.

How to avoid plagiarism on steemit

To avoid plagiarism, your must acknowledge the source of your idea. This can be done through citation.

Always cite other people's work, words, ideas and phrases that you use directly or indirectly in your paper. Regardless of whether you found the information in a book, article, or website, and whether it's text, a graphic, an illustration, chart or table, you need to cite it. source

When paraphrasing you don't only replace the words but you summarize it for easy understanding. You must also give credit to any idea, images words that belongs to someone. Plagiarism can be checked by using so many tools like Plagiarism checker. Here you just need to copy the text and paste in the tool, and it will check it for you.

Conclusion

People plagiarize when they are not aware of the rule and when they lack special training. Also, people plagiarize because it is easy to copy and paste without any stress. Plagiarism can be as a result of the inability to write in English. Plagiarism can also be intentional. It is crime that must be avoided at all cost. Thanks very much for spending ample time to read this. I am looking forward for verification.
