Hello fellow Newcomers!
Greetings to you all. I am back again to share with you my achievement task. This is on content etiquette. How I would be able to give proper citation to someone's original work.
Steem as proof of brain & plagiarism free source
I have bee learning so many things in steem for my few days here. I came to understand that steem is all about creativity and proof of brain which we cherish so much. Even if one should copy someone's original work, the fellow much provide the original source where the content was produced. There is nothing like hiding under grass to do something. The culprit would be caught of his habitual copying and pasting. If one therefore make consistent copying due to laziness without give appropriate citation, it means the fellow is cheating and therefore @steemcleaners may flag his content to go Inactive in steem.
This makes steem to be very credible in and keeping ones originality and reputation. Why I think plagiarism is very important in steem is that. In steem, our contents are being rewarded with steem tokens. So it feels very painful for one to copy and paste one's work without citing the fellow.
In my knowledge, plagiarism is a situation of stealing one's work, ideas, content, text, picture, video to be your original property without informing the person or making it known to them.
Though I am very young, but I have read how our school system is program. Before one completes his tertiary education, he must write thesis or project work with research into other people's work. In this case, any information used must be cited with references of the original source. One can't copy or use someone's work without appreciating his work. So plagiarism is should be discarded as being one's habit.
My Citation as example to avoid plagiarism
"Food quantity and quality:
Food security exists when, at all times, everyone has access to and control over sufficient quantities and quality of food needed for an active and healthy life. For a household this means the ability to secure adequate food to meet the dietary requirements of all its members, either through their own production or through food purchases. Food production depends on a wide range of factors, including access to fertile land, availability of labour, appropriate seeds and tools and climatic conditions. Factors affecting food purchases include household income and assets as well as food availability and price in local markets. In emergency situations, other factors may come into play including physical security and mobility, the integrity of markets and access to land. (Reference: Measuring and interpreting Malnutrition and Mortality (manual); WFP and CDC; 2005)"
In this case, the Author tries to give the overview of the causes of Malnutrition. I just wanted to know more about what actually goes into malnutrition. This is additional information the the above extract gives me. It's not my original work so I need to cite the source of the information and give it appropriate link.
I think there are many ways we can cite text and images which aren't our own. This is how so far I have learnt about plagiarism.
Thank you and welcome to my blog.
