Hello Steemians,

I am glad that I have been able to go through with my first and second achievements here and today, I am yet to post my third achievement. It is about having proof of brain concept which simply means being creative. This is through posting your own articles. You should not steal them from other people. Do not copy. Create your own and this makes you distinct and shows the proof of brain concept.

    You need to sit down, think about what you want to write about. Mind the language and then make sure the content you are to produce is of quality. For example not immoral, not abusive and not disrespectful in any way. Be an original writer. You need to avoid plagiarism.

     Plagiarism is the presentation of another person’s knowledge, thoughts, ideas and expressions as one’s own original work. Plagiarism is punishable in most societies. There is always a penalty. In school, you can be expelled or suspended. Among authors, you can be arrested because of owning someone else’s content. Then among artists, you can still be arrested or made to pay huge sums of money to be forgiven. Plagiarism is so bad because it is not allowed anywhere especially without permission or without quotation of the original holder’s names on that particular context. There are different types of plagiarism which include;
  • Direct plagiarism
    This is more of coping someone’s work and owning it yourself with out quoting and without attribution. For example an author may publish a book and someone else steals it and copies it, erasing the name of the original author.

  • Accidental plagiarism
    This is when a person neglects to include their sources of research in a study or when they misquote or use similar words with someone’s context.

  • Self plagiarism
    This is reusing the work you have already published. For example among students, it is when a student hands in work for the first time and the second time, he or she hands in that same assignment.

    The ways on how to avoid plagiarism are as follows;

  • Comit yourself to doing your own work and Incase you fail to understand, always ask but don’t copy.

  • When you use an author’s work, you have to give them credit by quoting their names below or above the work you are publishing.

  • If it is research work, you have to include the links or cites that you visited to get the information you are using.

  • Avoid publishing incorrect information or changing some words in a person ‘s work.

  • Avoid posting someone’s content and pretending it is your own.

        On the other hand, the steem community etiquettes are different ways of behavior in which an individual is expected to behave within that particular community. All communities have rules and regulations and steps to follow so as to prove you understood the requirements of the community before joining. For example when you are new to steemit, the very first thing to do is to put your very first post in the new comers community. These forms of etiquette are important because they keep everyone doing the right thing and serve the right purpose of creating that community.

   Types of steemit community etiquette
  • Professionalism

  • Communication etiquette

  • Personal etiquette

        Existing steem community etiquette we should embrace

  • Reading through other people’s posts and comment genuinely.

  • Be polite when talking to anyone
    -Always say thank you when you receive help from anyone in any firm. It can be through advice, it can be through steem.

  • Teach others what you know and you think it is important to them.

  • Uplift everyone. Don’t demoralize anyone because it can kill their morale.

I have read and understood the steemit etiquette of steemit community and I promise to embrace them.
