Creative writing is no easy exercise at all. Unless you've mastered the art, it could be a daunting task for a newbie. And since one is expected to write from their brain, it can be challenging because, how much do you really know to be able to write entirely from your brain? This is where the need to read and research comes in. Borrowing ideas or information from other sources to support your writing is necessary, but then you are faced with another problem —plagiarization!
Isn't it marvelous to know that there is almost no known topic or issue that has not been written on before? Meaning that there is nothing you want to write about that has not already been written by someone else —people even more knowledgeable in that field.
So how do you write without using someone else's words, ideas, or information and presenting it as your own?
This is where proper citation, or sourcing comes into play. And knowing how to properly acknowledge the source of your information makes you an outstanding and professional writer. Besides, it goes to show your honesty and integrity.
So what exactly is plagiarism? Well as already mentioned, it is presenting other people's work as if it were yours. In academic terms it is
“Presenting work or ideas from another source as your own, with or without consent of the original author, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement.source
So in simpler terms
Plagiarism means using someone else’s work without giving them proper credit.
It can also involve giving incorrect information about a source. source
These include both published and published materials, in whatever form, manuscript, electronic or printed.
Originality is key. But if you must copy or borrow from others, don't plagiarize.
I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steeming Community and will do my best to embrace them.
Thank you.

Plagiarism can simply be said to copy and paste what has been issued by others, but isn't it possible that everyone has the same perspective? So how do you get around it?
I was once taught by my language teacher in high school, when we don't fully quote everything written by others, just give a little change, then we avoid being called a plagiarist.
Does this also apply to this platform @yancar @lunasilver?
Maybe we are stuck with something called Inspiration, by taking a little material embellished with a creation to produce a new work.
Like the band D'Masiv who has the song "Cinta Ini Membunuhku"
Which has an Intro similar to the song "I Don't Love You" from My Chemical Romance

Hi @livinword we've seen that you're progressing, continue to be active for at least a month, interact with others, and write on topics of your interests, join all communities you like and We would like you to come back on the 13th of October and report your 1st Progress Report:
Please, don't use these points as a template - templates are so boring 🥱 - we're interested in hearing about your experience so far. You could use some of the following ideas as prompts...
A summary of the communities you've joined, why you've joined them, which you like the most, and why.
The topics you've been writing about.
A list of key people you've interacted with. An introduction to the people who have had the biggest impact on your experience so far (NOT an opportunity to tag whales) and the unexpected relationships that you've experienced.
Your most successful post - Why do you think it was successful?
Other observations - What have you learned and discovered that you weren't expecting to?
Your plan and expectations for the next month on the platform (please don't mention growing your account!)
Success
