Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wabarakatuhu.
I hope you all are well by the grace of Allah. I @miralehsan am also fine. I have already been verified for Achievement 2.
My topic today for Achievement 3 is plagiarism.

"Proof of Brain" actually means making money by using your brain. It also refers to performing various tasks well using intelligence. Also, members on Steemit help each other to establish social value and create value for content in a token-based community system known as "Proof of Brain" by collaborating with each other.

What is Plagiarism?

Using someone else's writing without mentioning their name is plagiarism, so please be honest.

"Plagiarism is presenting someone else’s work or ideas as your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement. All published and unpublished material, whether in manuscript, printed or electronic form, is covered under this definition. Plagiarism may be intentional or reckless, or unintentional. Under the regulations for examinations, intentional or reckless plagiarism is a disciplinary offence." source

There are seven common types of plagiarism.
Complete plagiarism:
When one person copies another's writing exactly, it is called complete plagiarism. Also, writing in one's own name by letting someone else write it in exchange for money is also complete plagiarism.

Direct plagiarism:
Direct plagiarism is when you copy parts of someone else's writing without mentioning them. The entire text is not copied in direct plagiarism.

Paraphrasing plagiarism:
Paraphrasing plagiarism is a type of plagiarism in which someone's writing is modified by changing some words. This is a form of plagiarism where someone else steals the ideas of a unique author. But he doesn't say anything about where he got the idea to write.

Self-plagiarism:
This type of plagiarism is when an author publishes his work in different places without mentioning where it was first published. Usually, people don't really call it stealing. But it would be proper practice if the author mentioned where he first published his work.

Patchwork plagiarism:
In patchwork plagiarism, small pieces of different texts are inserted into a piece of writing which is often not visible. This is also known as mosaic plagiarism. Similarly to a mosaic floor, which is made by mixing stones of different colors, patchwork plagiarism is likely to be this type of plagiarism.

Source-based plagiarism:
Source-based plagiarism means that you have taken a piece of writing or a photo from somewhere and mentioned it. But you mentioned a name which is a secondary source but the primary source is not mentioned. For example, if you get an article or photo from Google, you mention it in your article. But Google isn't a primary source. Without mentioning the primary source, it falls into source-based plagiarism.

Accidental plagiarism:

"Accidental plagiarism is perhaps the most common type of plagiarism because it happens when the writer doesn’t realize they are plagiarizing another’s work. Accidental plagiarism includes the following: 1 -Forgetting to cite your sources in your work 2-Not citing your sources correctly and 3-Failing to put quotes around cited material."source

Why does Plagiarism matter?

voi-cara-menyalin-teks-di-website-yang-dilindungi.jpg

source

"Plagiarism is a breach of academic integrity. It is a principle of intellectual honesty that all members of the academic community should acknowledge their debt to the originators of the ideas, words, and data which form the basis for their own work. Passing off another’s work as your own is not only poor scholarship, but also means that you have failed to complete the learning process. Plagiarism is unethical and can have serious consequences for your future career; it also undermines the standards of your institution and of the degrees it issues."source

me @miralehsan "I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them"
