We can't write Plagiarism-Free Posts on Steemit until we first understand what plagiarism is and how to avoid it. The English language is one of my favorites because it has a name for practically everything. And I'm about to give you an example of this. A thief is someone who takes something that is not theirs and uses it in the absence of the owner. If the circumstances alter and he takes anything that is not his with force in front of the owner, he will be labeled a robber. The offender will be labeled an armed robber if the circumstances surrounding the rubber were facilitated by a gun, knife, or other weapon. Piracy is a type of robbery that takes place at sea on ships or boats. A Plagiarist is a robber who steals something intangible, such as ideas, a song, or a significant speech, or anything else that is the outcome of clever thinking.
What is Plagiarism ?
Plagiarism is when someone steals another person's intellectual work and presents and receives credit for it without disclosing that the idea was not theirs.
According to bing.com, Plagiarism is "the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own" Source
Plagiarism is the practice of taking credit for someone else's words or ideas. It's an act of intellectual dishonesty. In colleges and universities, it violates honor codes and can cause irreparable damage to a person's reputation. It also comes with serious consequences; a plagiarized assignment may lead to a failing grade, a suspension, or an expulsion.
Plagiarism Types
Plagiarism by accident: If the writer failed to include a citation but denoted the material with quotation marks, he will be charged with accidental plagiarism. It could also happen if the reference you gave is incorrect.
Authorship Error If a writer fails to acknowledge the participation of one or more contributors who worked on the same project, he is guilty of Plagiarism.
Mosaic Plagiarism: occurs when a piece is totally composed of components taken from other people's work. This work was created after some investigation and the utilization of pieces of other people's work.
Plagiarism on a Global Scale: Plagiarism at a Global Level: In this scenario, the offender takes another person's project and presents it as their own without making much changes.
Auto Plagiarism: When a plagiarist plagiarizes his own work, he is known as an auto plagiarist.
Why Is Plagiarism So Dangerous?
- It could result in a loss of reputation.
- In most institutions, it calls for severe repercussions.
- A large fine could be imposed on the plagiarist.
