What is Plagiarism?

Plagiarism is the act representing someone’s else work or ideas as your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgment.

What are the types of Plagiarism
Direct Plagiarism
Direct plagiarism is the copying of some portion of someone’s else work, word to word without acknowledging and quotation marks.

Mosaic Plagiarism
plagiarism comes in away of unintentional, the person may have mentioned the source of the content he has referred to. But, if the person does not acknowledge the quoted part or put them under the quotation marks correctly, then the writer commits the crime of plagiarism.

Self Plagiarism
This occurs when a person present his own old work or adding some his own old work without the order of the professors involved.

Paraphrasing plagiarism
This type of plagiarism comes in the form of copy someone else work and making some small changes in it and using it as your own. The main content still conveys the same meaning even when the some the words depart from one another.

Effects Of Plagiarism

1. Practicing plagiarism leads to expulsion.
2. It also inspire sloppy research.
3. It brings low grades to the person.
4. It also brings out the worse in person.

The following are some of the guidelines to ensure your work from plagiarism:
1.Keep track of the sources you consult in your one findings.
2.Paraphrase or quote from your sources (and add your own ideas and though).
3.Credit the original author in an in-text citation and reference list.
4.Use a plagiarism checker before you submit.

Citation
This is a reference to material used to notify your readers where you got that material from used in doing ones work.
It also provides your readers the information crucial to find the area details of that source on the reference.

Types Of Citation Styles Used

1. American Psychological Association(APA)
2. Chicago or Turabian style
3. Modern Language Association(MLA)

The points below are the reasons one should cite his sources.

1. We cite our sources to give an acknowledgement to the authors of the sourcing material.
2. To make one’s work better and understandable by giving reference grounds to your concepts.

Conclusion
Citing of sources is very necessary as far as plagiarism matters. It is always good for us to cite our sources to make our research unique and prevent loss of marks and failure.
