As part of the macro project of integration, growth, expansion and solid construction of the Steem community sponsored by @steemitblog, the Steem Greet Community stands out as a key part of the gear that makes the polishing of new steemit users possible. For this purpose, it counts on the collaboration of an organized work team led by @cmp2020, who execute an educational program that introduces beginners to basic aspects of the functioning of the Steemit ecosystem.

This pedagogical plan is structured in teaching and learning phases called achievements, being the presentation and verification of the user the first step to reach, supported by the learning of security in the account, which corresponds to the general purpose of this publication.

Who has the pleasure of explaining this section, Gilberto; I am an active part of this orientation under the supervision of @cmp2020. Having accomplished and reached the first achievement, it is up to me to create content to explain security; in this sense, after reviewing various documentary sources, it seems pertinent to me to give a detailed treatment to this subject because it covers fundamental aspects that must be properly known; for this reason, I present a series of three publications, this being the first one. By the way, let's start!

About security and master password

When we were little we felt protected by the attention and accompaniment that our parents and loved ones gave us. That feeling of trust that dissolves any situation of possible risk or danger we could call security. Security does not only apply to the maternal and familiar component, when we make banking transactions, close a contract of purchase and sale or initiate a project we are acting under the gradual influence of security; the Blockchain Steem is not different, it worries and takes care of the security of its population of users.

With this security and protection policy a master password is established for each account, from which several keys are derived that unlock certain social and financial functions. Therefore, it is important to know this protection system based on a hierarchy of security and roles that represents the shielding of your Steemit account, as long as you are careful in the activation of each social key and wallet.

It is not fortuitous that the protocol warning message in the keys and permissions window, as well as password resetting is reiterative as to seven fundamental rules that users must abide by to keep their account protected, it is urged that you be cautious with the handling and protection of your master password because there is no way to recover it, that is why it is recommended to create passwords that are difficult to decrypt and to save a physical copy and use a reliable password management manager.

Password and Key Hierarchy

The blue book of the Blockchain Steem clearly and precisely describes the permissions granted by each key according to its action within the ecosystem, this hierarchical level of password or security seed from which the keys are derived, has a division in terms of functions, can be classified into social actions, wallet actions and account recovery, the latter is conditioned by some requirements such as a temporary period not exceeding 30 days, among other aspects. Why a hierarchical security system?

The system of content creation and consumption goes hand in hand with a method of rewarding authors, curators, developers, investors and the blockchain economy in general; so this developing dynamic produces and supports the Steem token, which is money and therefore must be safely guarded. Imagine for a moment that you were the owner or manager of an exchange house, bank, financial company or any other economic activity that generates profit.

It is logical that you would take the respective security measures to protect your assets. I don't see you using a universal key that opens all the locks on the structure and even the safe. That would be crazy because by losing your master key you are putting all the capital and assets of your business at high risk. This is similar, the steem is one of the most appreciated and quoted crypto currencies in the global market. Security gives confidence and keeps you away from unwanted fraudulent events.

How to protect your password and keys?

In a general way, the image identified as high-level key permissions, contained in the element called Password and key hierarchy, indicates which are the keys that each private key unlocks; so you already have a basic knowledge about the actions of each one.
