Time restrictions and side hustles
I made $400 in 15 minutes of effort using a few minutes of free video editing software, copyright-free music, and a brief animated intro.
I don't have extra time because I'm lazy, but because I don't have it.
Here's how I went about doing it.
YouTube
For one of my nameless YouTube accounts, I made a collection video.
For me, that video was the kickstarted for everything I've done on YouTube.
It monetized my anonymous YouTube channel, earning me almost $400 to date and about 1 million views.
Is it really just $400 for a million views?
That could be the first thing that comes to mind. And it's a significant one. I "only" made $400 for a million views. Why? Several elements come into play:
Monetization
A significant portion of those views occurred prior to YouTube's monetization of my channel.
I didn't get paid for these opinions.
Niche RPM
In terms of remuneration per 1000 views, the niche of compilations and films about celebrities, actresses, movies, television series, and other topics is not the greatest (or RPM as YouTube calls it).
The average RPM is approximately $3, with some jumps up to $5–$6.
Other niches are readily doubled, tripled, or even ten-folded.
This film, on the other hand, had a pitiful RPM of 0.44 dollars!
Yes, for 1000 views, you'll have to pay 44 cents.
With my regular $3 RPM, the video alone might have brought in over $2,800.
Even funny, with 1 million views on Medium, I could have made $34,000.

Work for 15 minutes
Still, $400 for 15 minutes of effort isn't terrible. In my 9-to-5 job, I wish I could get that rate.
But the video has done a lot more for me. It not only got me monetized, but it also earned me 800 subscribers, as I indicated previously. I currently have almost 6000 subscribers.
Most significantly, it raised the number of people who saw several of my other videos. Mostly on videos that were linked in the video description and info pop-up, but also on YouTube's algorithm-recommended videos.
It was also simple Work. I have no prior knowledge of video editing. I, too, had no desire to purchase any software or tools. I made the animation opener with free applications like Apple iMovie and Keynote, grabbed copyright-free music from the YouTube audio collection, and performed some basic editing. In the video, I didn't expose my face or speak.

The bottom line
I don't have an endless amount of time to devote to my side hustles. I really wish I did. I admire people that work in this field full-time or have a lot of spare time. Just like I did in college. For me, that would have been the ideal time. But, back in 2010, I didn't do it.
I now have five children, a wife, a house, and a 9-to-5 job with a Fortune 500 corporation. There is hardly no free time. I only have 15 minutes.
As a result, I make the most of my 15 minutes. And that worked out beautifully for my faceless YouTube channel. The utilization of short-form material is also working well on this platform.
Sometimes all you need is 15 minutes.
