ACHIEVEMENT 3 BY @nikkypeter, TASK: CONTENT ETIQUETTE

With a happy heart I am writing my achievements 3 on this platform, my heart goes out to everyone who although being busy, take out time to read, comment and vote all the post I presented in this platform including my achievement 1 and 2, I am saying thank you.

I have derive great pleasure to come to know this platform call steemit, Where I can write about anything at anytime, as long as it carries quality information and meet the community etiquette,people read and appreciates through their votes and comments.

It is on this note that’s I move straight to my achievement 3 task which is contents etiquette.
WHAT IS ETIQUETTE?
This can be defined as a set of rules or custom that controls accepted behavior in a particular social group or social situation.source
In steemit platform There are set rules that's controls its users and one of such is avoiding an act of plagiarism.

WHAT IS PLAGIARISM?
This is an act of presenting someone else work as your own, it also involves using words, ideas, or information from a source without including citations.source
Plagiarism Can be term as an act Of dishonesty because a situation where you copy someone's work or quote it and then refuse to acknowledge the owner of that passage, you are in essence misleading who you present the information to, and that is dishonest.

There are types of plagiarism and whichever pattern you take, if proper citations or quotations or paraphrasing is not done then you have committed an act of plagiarism, so let's briefly discuss the types.

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM
• COPY AND PASTE PLAGIARISM: this has to do with directly copying someone else’s idea without proper citation.
• SELF PLAGIARISM: this has to do with using your previous work to write a new content without acknowledging it, this is bad because steemit platform is a platform that everyone expect to learn new things from you every day, so presenting your previous write up as new can be boring, disappointing and can make people lose interest in reading your posts.
• GLOBAL PLAGIARISM: This has to do with telling someone to Write your content for you.

HOW TO AVOID PLAGIARISM
• CITATION: In any case you use someone's idea or words while writing a post be sure to cite the source of the information.
• INCLUDE QUOTATIONS: in any case you are copying someone else’s idea Verbatim, Be sure to use quotation marks around the text you, can also include a direct source of the information.
• PARAPHRASE: this has to do with you reading and understanding the contents of the information and then rewrite it in your own words.
• USE YOUR OWN IDEA: this can be possible if you take time to study and do research on a particular topic then write what you know about it rather than coping.
• USE PLAGIARISM CHECKER: this is a tool designed to use in checking plagiarism so always make use of its as it will detect where plagiarism is present in your write up.

I have read and understood the steem etiquette on steemit community and I will do my best to embrace them.
