Originality
Retaking one's idea or photo without any credit to the owner is an act of ingratitude and an abuse of copyright rules. Every reference made to someone else's brain child content of any form deserves to be well acknowledged and cited. That is the aim of this task: to emphasise the need for proper citation and some citation processes in order to avoid plagiarism.

What did you observe from the above image?
It is usually very easy to copy posts we find very apealling and enticing, but just a few find it necessary to make a reference to the author of the post. Such is called plagiarism.

Types of Plagiarism
There are basically, five types of plagiarism as discussed below.

  1. self- plagiarism
When one reposts or makes a reference to one's earlier post without properly citing it, self- plagiarism has taken place.
  2. Verbatim plagiarism
This happens when a writer/ steemian lifts another author's post without changing any word or idea. It becomes a plagiarism because the idea and words are not yours and should not be posted as yours.
  3. paraphrasing
Unlike verbatim plagiarism, paraphrasing happens if one rewrites another author's post but changes the words. The writer uses different words to project the same idea.
  4. accidental plagiarism
Accidental plagiarism could be seen as a mistake or an omission of citation in a post. Here, the author forgets to cite the source of his post unintentionally.
  5. source- based plagiarism
When the source cited as the origin of a text, photo or video is not actually the source, it is regarded as a source- based plagiarism.

Every image, text, or any other content we make a full or partiall reference to demands a proper acknowledgement (citation).

Citation
Citing an author, artist, or an unknown content is very vital to the keeping with the copyright rules. Once you use someone's idea or image in your content, formality demands that you indicate where you got it from.

How?

We shall look briefly into some of the ways of citing sources of our quotes.
First, enclose every quoted text in quotation marks"". These marks indicate that you have used words of another person.

Thereafter, insert the link to the source of the texts you quoted. For instance, the image above was downloaded from the net. The link to the image is this.https://images.app.goo.gl/UuMHcRxWx7UrANHM8
This link must come very close to the text it is attached to and enclosed in paranthesis () after writing [source].
Here is a sample of a cited text enclosed in a quote.
“The fool doth think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool.”
― William Shakespeare, As You Like It
Source. This is a third hand quote from Shakespeare to me, but i only have to cite the source from which i copied it, which is goodreads.

There are many types of citations styles.
In academics, we have:
Modern Language Association(MLA)
American Psychological Association( APA)
Etc.

Thank you for taking the pain of reading through and i wish you find it helpful.
