Happy evening to all steemians ,I am @obi -nessa on this platform.having accomplished my achievement 2 and moving over to achievement 3 which is on plagiarism.

DEFINITION OF PLAGIARISM.

Plagiarism is the act of using someone else's ideas,words,or thoughts as your own without giving credit to the original author.it is an act of intellectual dishonesty,it violates honor codes and can cause irreparable damage to one's reputation,and it comes with serious repercussions.it got to do with violating copyright laws.

Generally, plagiarism might be the same in all countries.some countries,such as Poland, considers plagiarism to be a crime,and there have been cases of people being imprisoned for plagiarizing.

Types of plagiarism

  1. Direct plagiarism
  2. Mosaic plagiarism
    3.self plagiarism
  3. Accidental plagiarism

To start with,

Direct plagiarism is the taking of someone else's ideas or work and claiming them as your own , without citation.

Mosaic plagiarism is simply conforming slightly or repeating someone's pharses without using quotations,or to be precise, without appropriately citing the source.

Self plagiarism has to do with copying, duplicating and reusing of portions of previous post of the same Creator while authoring a new work without their permission and this form of plagiarism is rampant in the educational aspect.

And lastly, Accidental plagiarism is using someone else's work as one's work without giving due acknowledgement to the original author but he does it mistakenly or unintentionally.

Ways to avoid plagiarism

. Don't procrastinate with your research and assignment because good research takes time.

.Cite your sources scrupulously.

. Understand good paraphrasing.

Consequences of plagiarism

.It can result in legal action,fines and penalties.

.it destroyed academic and professional reputation.

.it encourages haphazard research
