Plagiarism is simply the act of copying another person's work or manuscript without appropriate reference to them. A typical conventional example is lifting a published journal online into your own work without adequate reference of the original owner. This is a menace to the writers, and must be discourage at every point in time.
Types of plagiarism
There are basically 8 different types of plagiarism, as they come handy. Some are listed below.
• Paraphrasing plagiarism: just as the name implies, it's the type of plagiarism which involves rephrasing of someone else's content or write up and rendering them as if they were your own without due acknowledgement of the original source.
• Verbatism plagiarism: This is another type of plagiarism which involves word to word copy pasting of another person's content, Idea or journal as your own without referencing the source. This type of plagiarism is common around the school environment as students
are often found culpable of this act.
Some plagiarism may also be accidental or intentional, but depending on which ever means resulted in plagiarism, it should'nt go without be punished.
Ways of mitigating plagiarism
• By appropriate referencing of write ups
• getting adequate information before advancing on a writing project
• Use of correct sources
• strict penalties for defaulters.
