Most likely your answer is no. We work the whole day, or are busy at home the whole day and noone gives us compliments.
What you might hear is...

Are you done with your work yet?
Why do you look so grumpy?
Is lunch ready yet?
Oh, we had that for dinner a few days ago!
All these things are negative and it seems they don't care about us as a person! All this negativity puts pressure on our relationships and makes us feel terrible. Let's look at the power of compliments.
They let you know you are doing things right.
When you feel appreciated you work harder to keep people happy.
When you give compliments it makes other people smile, which in turn makes them happy.
The happier you and your friends are, the more meanigful life becomes.
Compliments are free. They don't cost a thing, but they are still difficult for people to say.
Compliments can inspire others to perform at a higher level.
Compliments are powerful, so what's holding us back?
