You may have wondered why some intelligent people fail to achieve their potential. There are many factors that can cause this, not just intelligence. A few of these factors might include: lack of parental support, living in a violent environment, and lack of motivation. These and other factors can affect how an individual learns and behaves in school and beyond. This article will be exploring the different ways intelligence might impact a person’s potential for success in life.

What is intelligence?

There are different definitions of intelligence, so let’s look at each of these. We will look at their different levels and the factors that contribute to each. IQ Intelligence is described in terms of ability and achievement. A person’s IQ will generally be an average of 100, which indicates average intelligence. IQ can be assessed by taking standardized tests which are designed to measure children’s intelligence. A lower IQ indicates less ability, as opposed to having more ability and less ability. An IQ score below 70 is considered to be below average intelligence, while an IQ above 140 is considered to be above average. In the United States, people with IQs below 70 are eligible for special education. A higher IQ generally means a higher level of achievement and potential.

Why smart people often fail to achieve potential

As children, we are often told that intelligence is a “fact of life.” This is a concept that reinforces the belief that there are certain things that are expected of us and those that are not. When we’re young, these expectations might include taking turns at playing with a toy or learning how to ride a bicycle. “Intelligence is a learned, gained skill.” All of these learned skills are helpful, but the expectations behind them are too high. As we mature, we become aware of our faults and begin to recognize that we can and will learn from them. As children, the normal goal is to learn how to fit in with our peers. The idea that we could possibly do better or do what was expected of us was not part of the equation.

How intelligence can affect a person’s success

Some research has shown that there is a correlation between an individual’s IQ and their motivation to achieve their potential. Other research has shown that there is a relationship between the tendency to procrastinate and intelligence. Regardless of the exact nature of the relationship between these two phenomena, it’s clear that motivation plays an important role in determining a person’s future potential.
